BULLSHIT! We expect them to join the church and if they don't we drop them. That's the reality.

I reacted to her story about the prodigal son, saying that the father forgave when he was so terribly hurt….but there is nothing that actually harmed the father compared to other sins. Let’s compare it to asking the abused child to forgive…nope, the child’s life is changed for the worse forever. I still have things in my life 60 years after the abuse. It is just not something that damaged the father. Cost him some money, disappointed him, but didn’t ruin his life.

My husband promptly turned off the TV and now I feel guilty for keeping him from watching.edited to add, I would react but this is the only way forgiveness to talked about.

Edited to add, They use these examples where any smuck can forgive easily and then tell abused kids they are worse then their offender because they haven’t healed. They even confuse forgiveness with being all the way over all the damage as if forgiveness is something you choose to do once and it fixes all the damage. They don’t do that to victims of drunk drivers who are injured, because they understand physical injury. But they have no clue as to the emotional damage, so they use stories like this, over and over.

Should we share our negative experiences too or are we to give them a false impression?

Yep that was not good and could really be weaponized to further abuse victims.
At least she's female so her words won't carry the same weight as if one of the Q15 said them.

Did they post these? The only stats I could find were last updated in 2019. Where are these updates?

Focus on individual worth. +10

It also seems like speakers are focusing more on Bible stories over BofM stories.

The official numbers first broke 16 million in 2017. I remember in 1989 being told that Kimball thought we had been stuck at baptizing 200,000 a year for too long. I'm guessing that the missionary department would be thrilled to get back up to that number.
