MoPag, what should we be doing to prepare for GC?

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

MoPag, what should we be doing to prepare for GC?

Post by Red Ryder »

In the spirit of GC preparation, what should we be doing?

I’ve changed the oil in my lawn mower.
Filled up the fridge with cold caffeinated drinks.
Stretched my thumbs for weeks ready to type.
I’m up to 3 sets of 20 eye rolls. Left to right. Right to left.
Gag reflex is at its best in years.
Still working on numbing the mind on command.
GC Bingo sheets printed. Markers ready
Reading up on the latest exmo rumors.
Memorizing the list of 120 male leaders and 5 female!
Scriptures dusted off…

Anything else?

In my house, we used to play "testimony pool" on fast Sundays. Prior to the start of testimonies, you identify who you think will get up to yamner. Each correct guess gets a point, each wrong guess loses a point. Some of us have argued that some guesses should get more if hit.. like long shots. Lol.

Maybe General Conf pool is needed on a separate thread?

Coffee and Tea now allowed under WofW: odds are 200 to 1

Mention of the war in Ukraine: over or under 5 times

Number of female speakers: over/ under is 4

More than one female prayer: 3 to 1 odds

Number of times a speaker quotes Rusty: over/under is 600.

Name mentioned most often in conf:
President Nelson: 2 to 1
Jesus: 3 to 1 (not counting the end of prayers)
Holy Ghost: 4 to 1
Joseph Smith: 4 to 1
Heavenly Father: 9 to 1
Heavenly Mother: 20 to 1
Putin: 20 to 1

Remember to have your computer open to the Saturday Morning session of the NOM Support board.
Practice doing so figure eights with your mouse.

I would be stocking up on booze and cannabis but Ms. Stealth and I are not quite totally in alignment on those things yet. That might be the only way I could get through it or even enjoy it! I think we will try to skip it and see how it goes.

Wow! Our NOM ward is soooo righteous!!

Definitely work on that gag reflex, and your eye rolls. Practice all your swear words. A few face palms wouldn't go amiss.

My GC prep:

Closely monitor Facebook for the feed of my TBM friends. Anyone posting GC stuff will get a 30 day snooze. Hopefully, by the time they are unsnoozed, it will have died down. If they don't, I will consider further action up to even unfollowing or even removing as a FB friend. My FB page is a religion and politics free zone.

Beyond that, I hope to be able to avoid any mention of GC.

I do keep a small stockpile of Zofran in my hose. If any of my fellow NOM's need some, let me know.

Makes me so proud to have given so much money to this institution. All those in favor please indicate by the rising of the right middle finger.

I'm planning a trip well outside of broadcast coverage and density of mormons. Backcountry for extra safety in these Covid times.
