Well here's another banner story for the Mormon church... one of the early DezNat people is the Asst AG in Alaska and the Guardian is covering it which is even more crazy:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... -far-right
For those who are unaware, DezNat is the alt-right of Mormonism and openly embraces the racism, sexism, and radicalism of early Mormon leaders (Brigham did nothing wrong) and the racism that is explicit in Mormon scriptures.
I'm sure most members will never see this, but hilarious they identified him.
One of the DezNat founders is the Asst Attorney General of Alaska!

I would imagine that if Brig were alive today he would donate to the Kyle Rittenhouse defense fund.

Wonder if this will propel him into the Sarah Palin Professorship at the prestigious J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

The Church needs to explicitly condemn #DezNat. They have no problem speaking out against things when they want to. They need to want to here. These people are un-Christlike bullies who would carry through on their threats if they were in a position to do so.
There is a huge gulf between saying an organization is “not affiliated with or endorsed by [the church]” and condemning it. The Church needs to cross that gulf. But it has a hard time bringing itself to alienate loyal tithe payers, especially when the Church itself has its own issues with racism and misogyny. The Utah-based faith has pointed out that #DezNat is “not affiliated with or endorsed by [the church]” and has decried any racist or uncivil interactions.

Dumbledore taught us, "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." The church's friends include some serious problem cases. I don't think the leadership has the courage to stand up to them. Not Buying It wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 5:37 am https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2021/07 ... laskan-ag/

When I read this the other day, the first thing that came to mind was the church office building folks and the strengthening members committee are probably working overtime to ensure none of the GAs Twitter accounts are linked with DezNats.
