Mormons gonna morm...and build that investment portfolio!

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Mormons gonna morm...and build that investment portfolio!

Post by SincereInquirer »

Hi all: it has been a while since I have posted, but nothing gets me going quite like reading about the Mormon Church and their riches.

https://www.capitalpress.com/ag_sectors ... 0a048.html

https://www.opb.org/article/2021/06/10/ ... ashington/

From the Capital Press article:
Farmland Reserve Inc., the real estate company of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, submitted the high bid of $209 million for the Easterday ranch properties in Eastern Washington, topping a company linked to Bill Gates.
I mean, when you have a spare $210 million laying around, what you gonna do with it? Use it to help people? Nah, invest!

Lessons to be learned from these articles:

1. Bill Gates is a poor compared to the Mormon Church.
2. Don't get in a bidding battle with the Mormons. They take no prisoners.
3. When Jesus comes back, the Mormons are making sure they have land now so they have enough food stored up because Jesus is going to be mad and bad $#!* is going to happen.

Some further random questions and thoughts, mingled with snark:

1. TSCC needed more farmland so they could make sure to have a place to send all of the old farmers on Church service missions. Can't beat free labor to maintain that $210 million dollar investment.
2. TBM's will likely read the articles and say, "look how the Church is buying land to produce food for the welfare system!" How much of the crop produced here will actually go to the welfare system and feed those that need it, and how much will instead be sold to large food companies? It sure would be nice if TSCC would actually open the books and show us, wouldn't it?
3. Following on with point 2, reference in the OPB article is made to "AgriNorthwest" (owned by TSCC)...per its website, AgriNorthwest farms a lot of crops and does what with it? "Export" "Deliver to Consumers" (See https://www.agrinorthwest.com (hit "products" link)). Let's be real: the Mormons aren't using this land principally for feeding the homeless and hungry, and they won't be using the Easterday land for that either.
4. I wonder if the Easterday's are or were Mormon?

Unless someone already did, I am going to cross post this on exmo reddit as well so the spreadsheets of those keeping them that monitor TSCC's investments can be updated to account for TSCC's new ownership of 12,000 more acres in Washington state, but thought this crowd may also appreciate the info on TSCC's stewardship of our previously donated tithing dollars.
"I don't need the Mormon church to be true, I just need it to not be verifiably false." - something I read somewhere...(help me give proper citation credit if you know where this came from)

What's crazy is that when you mention this to believers online, you get hit with the DezNat types replying with #MakeItATrillion...

I cannot wrap my head around being in a church where you get excited that your church is dropping $350 MILLION dollars in a week on a luxury hotel in Maui and farmlands while holding a massive public relations event to talk about giving $3 million in scholarships to the NAACP over three years.

Absolutely nuts to square this kind of investment with Nelson telling people time is running out and get in order with the church...

It would require 2.4 hectares of apologists armed with a Large Hadron Collider to explain that away.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

He's projecting.

He's projecting.
I suspect that what Nelson is projecting is how time is running out for him to be the first prophet to be 100 years old. If he lives to see September 9, 2024 that birthday party is going to be lit. Or at least be a fawning display of hero worship much like his 95th birthday. Plus, at 7% interest the balance sheet of Ensign Peak could be 257 billion.

One of my favorite scriptures is when Jesus was talking to his people, shortly after feeding 5000 poor people with a single loaf of bread and turning water into wine he said “Forget the poor and afflicted, but buy up land and resorts unto me and build me a mall, lest ye shall be damned”

And they'll still find a way to get wealthy members to pay for the party in exchange for some kind of tax dodge, a la Romney.

The difference is the $3 million for the NAACP is from the church. The land and hotel was purchased by a who different entity which is a for profit business of the church. Such a big difference. :)

Meanwhile a church in New Mexico purchased a bunch of people's medical debt and then wrote it off.
