$20 of cheap entertainment
So, I just heard one of the funniest stories in a while.
My brother left the church a while ago, and submitted his resignation last year. He's not bitter, he doesn't really care about it but was tired of the missionaries contacting him every other year as they try to update records.
Anyway, i confided in him my newfound views and he was happy to have a brother join him in the "unfaith". It renewed his interest in Mormonism.
Alright, he's a bit of a computer nerd and knows how to do things on the internets that I don't. He's also willing to pay a token amount to have some fun. He gets more entertainment from the blogosphere than going to the movies.
He spend $20 on advertising on Reddit and made a nice simple ad that links to the CESletter. He then placed this ad on a variety of pro LDS sub Reddits. People then threaten to report the post to the mods, but the mods can't delete it because it's a paid ad.
So his entertainment is to sit back and read the comments while his little ad campaign works its magic. Freaking hilarious. He said $20 should provide about 120 days of run time.
He also did something similar on Facebook and spent $20 on an ad campaign targeting 18-30 yr old males, in Utah, especially at BYU. He can Monitor the performance of his ad campaign and how many clicks, who, when, etc.
I died laughing when he told me.

Now icing on the cake. He lives on the east coast and happens to be in a bit of a pickle. His wife is literally in the hospital tonight now with baby#3 arriving any minute. My TBM mom is currently out there helping out as they are in the hospital. While our mom is at home taking care of his kids - he's in the hallway taking a break from the delivery room to check on the comments of his ad campaign.
Apparently stirring the pot runs in the family.
Also, I made $20 on a Super Bowl bet, now what to spend it on...

That is awesome. That 20$ will go a long way for some good laughs
Re: $20 of cheap entertainment
This is fantastic. Genius in fact. I love the responses. Interestingly, most seemed to be supportive of the CES letter or had at least read it.

I am now sorely tempted to spend $20 on a Facebook ad campaign that targets my wife's demographic towards newordermormon.net...

Hmmm...
I would prefer to spend my $20 on coffee, tea, and alcohol! Or nice comfy underwear of my choice. Or a pair of movie tickets!

Heathen! Do you not understand the priority of anti-missionary work over personal fulfillment and joy?! Nothing has changed from our active days; it's just the other side of the same coin. Every NOM-Member an Anti-Missionary!Red Ryder™ wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2017 8:53 am Hmmm...

Sooo.... you're upset that a traitor to the faith has become a traitor to the anti-faith?Stig wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2017 10:52 amHeathen!
