Have GC speakers always made these weird faces? Am I just noticing them more?

It's almost as if he invented this stuff. Nelson is also the author of "exact obedience brings miracles." Just nonsense.

To be clear, Mormorrisey is the author of that lovely line.

Well, two more to go. Thanks again to Pres. Mopag for doing this. This is the only thing that keeps me sane having to listen. At this point, I think we've had a pretty good session (this morning), a dumpster fire, (this afternoon) and a meh session (priesthood). That's not bad.

so boring... ugh. I need some stuff to pick apart, like Joy's talk earlier or the abortion abomination.

Jim McMahon was one of BYU's best quarterbacks, even if his main emphasis was to do the Superbowl Shuffle. The Superbowl Shuffle still makes for interesting material at GenCon 191.Mormorrisey wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 5:42 pm I'm not a huge football guy, was he a good quarterback?

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Re: Priesthood NOMference!!
I was little confused by Oaks' shift at the beginning of his talk. He started his talk out with a story of a lady that felt the church had nothing to offer her. I thought, wow he's going to do a talk on being more inclusive.
Then he turned on a dime. He changed the lady's question to, "What has Jesus done for me?" and then proceeded to answer that question. It felt like Oaks was saying, because Jesus did this for you, you owe it to come to church. Which is a pretty lame answer IMO.

Jim was not LDS but managed to get through his BYU years without getting kicked out for partying. I think the honor code committee wasn't as strict back then, or they kept a more "don't ask, don't tell" policy, especially for their elite athletes.
Jim married an LDS gal, however, and supported their kids getting baptized. They later divorced.

I knew guys who knew McMahon.
Loyal and kind hearted, despite the image he portrayed.

I don't know if they actually said his name. I was kind of zoning out tbh.
