Keeping up with Trump
Re: Keeping up with Trump
Today's news:
Republican federal judge Brett H. Ludwig, who was appointed by Trump shortly before the election, dismissed Trump's latest effort to overturn the Wisconsin election results “as a matter of law and fact.”
In response to Trump's accusation that judges are throwing out his cases purely on technicalities, Ludwig allowed Trump's lawyers a full day to lay out their case but found the claims seriously lacking. “This court has allowed the plaintiff the chance to make his case,” Judge Ludwig wrote, “and he has lost on the merits.”
After over 50 attempts in state and federal courts and 2 appeals to the Supreme Court, Trump and his lawyers have failed cataclysmically to produce ANY credible evidence.
Hopefully the light bulb is slowly starting to go on for the more critically thinking Trump supporters.
Meanwhile, Trump tries to blame it all on Hunter Biden while 18 Attorneys General and 126 House Republicans are wondering if they will survive the blood loss for shooting themselves in the foot.

There was an online petition with over 22,000 signatures to recall Utah AG Sean Reyes who broke his oath to uphold the Constitution and tried to destroy democracy in the United States.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

The discussion I'm hearing about the likelihood of a rigged election reminds me of the Nye-Ham evolution debate. The two men were asked what it would take for them to change their minds. Ham said, "Nothing could change my mind." Nye said, "Evidence."

Re: Keeping up with Trump
That's funny.
I've been off debating with other less worthy fellows. My big debate has been church vs state.
Faith is about applying yourself to achieve a goal.
Evidence is about letting someone else change your mind.
Faith is sort of a church energy.
Evidence is sort of a state energy.
Faith is more likely to make someone stubborn and unchangeable.
Evidence bias will tend to make people more changeable.
Both have there place, but I'm proud of "won't change my mind" tendencies.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for you, SN. I'm just pleased that all of the judges and officials, the Attorney General, Trump's cybersecurity chief, and the Supreme Court share "I'll weigh the evidence" tendencies. At least he can't fire all of them for choosing truth over intimidation.SaidNobody wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 8:20 pm Faith is more likely to make someone stubborn and unchangeable.

60 law suits, all simply rejected? Reports are that the evidence wasn't even looked at.
On Jan 20, 2021 you can console me. The states in question actually sent both Democrat and Republican electors, except Michigan who blocked their electorates from getting to the legislature. Literally block them at the door.
There are several opportunities for this to correct itself. Supposably, never in the history of the United States has a state sent both party electorates. Of those states the governor has signed and sealed the envelope with the votes. The other envelope will not have the governor's seal on it. But in theory when the votes are counted by Mike Pence e could pick which envelope to count.
Back in 2016/17 Joe Biden tried to invoke a rarely used option.
As part of the election protection process when the vice president counts the votes he can choose to reject states that he does not trust. Or something like that. If he does this then the election is sent back to the Congress which then has to resort back to the majority of the state. I don't know exactly what determines what is a red state and what is a blue state, but each state automatically submits its symbolic representation as a vote. But in Joe Biden's case the majority of the states were Republican so it didn't/wouldn't work. But since the states are still majority Republican such an act would work for Trump.
In statistics we always use a simile of tossing a handful of coins onto the floor and everyone landing on its edge. Of course this would be a statistical impossibility. 60 lawsuits that are actually legitimately put together with evidence being rejected by the courts in a just fashion would be such a statistical and possibility. This would be like a pregnant woman with medical reports and DNA tests going to the courts and accusing someone of rape and they simply rejecting the case. The courts didn't even look at the evidence.
I'm not upset yet. And I won't be upset even if it doesn't work out. I think Trump is probably too old to run again in 2024. However he could still run. And he could start his campaign on January 21st. Presidents usually go quietly that good night after their term. But he doesn't have to. He is still eligible to be the next president.
The Democrats have indicated that they are not going to let him alone. He still has a beautiful winter White House in Milargo Florida. He can pull a Joe Biden and demand immunity for anything they throw at him because he is running for president.
So, chances are come 21st of January Trump will still be my president.
It's going to be a wild ride.

Discussions on this forum are a little bit like cleaning the house with my wife. When I get done with something she tells me "you're not done." And likewise when she is done I might say "you missed a spot."
But she is every bit 4 ft 10.5" And I hover somewhere around 6'2".
I don't see under the couches and she doesn't see on top of the shelves.
I don't really come here to argue things that you already know. I come to share perspectives or thoughts that you might not have considered. I didn't say that Trump would win. I am not so great a prophet is to know that. I can claim that Trump will still be my president on January 21st. And there is a fairly decent possibility he will be yours too.
This of course is going to cause no shortage of upset but we had righteous cause and the courts for reasons that I cannot fully explain refuse to hear it.

Re: Keeping up with Trump
I started reading this thread in depth because of moksha's hilarious first post. (moksha, I've missed your humor.)
I kept reading the thread because SaidNobody is articulating what my extended family believes. (They are much more likely to get their news from word of mouth or social media than from reputable news media.)
I have attempted to engage with family members on occasion in order to try to understand their position. It seemed like the more awful things that reputable sources uncovered the better they liked him, and I was aghast.
But reading this thread has really helped me to understand why, when even Fox News started going wtf, my extended family just believed Trump more. So I thank all the participants, and especially SaidNobody, for the civil exchange!

What you just described is the typical process of one whittling down their circle of belief to a core few. This is often what happens in a cult. In the case of Warren jeffs and the FLDS this effect was extreme and to this day and they will not talk or consider ideas outside of their circle.River Morgan2 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:55 am I started reading this thread in depth because of moksha's hilarious first post. It can be a pain. And you can lose loved ones to some scary circumstances. But this is also happening on the left. There are mountains of evidence and sources of news coming forth with a story and they simply turn a blind eye calling a fake news. This is not a new procedure for the cultification of the mind.
Luckily for me I actually enjoy my cultification and my sense of uniqueness in the world. I am not afraid to explore ideas and stand on points that are not popular. And I don't even get emotionally upset when someone proves me wrong. However that is harder to do than it seems.
What is true is that my circle of friends is not very large. I think I do have a fairly good perception on the world and how it works and I don't necessarily agree with it. I can function in society and actually make friends and people often compliment me on my unique ability to spin things that they consider fact into something else.
I can only give you that gut feeling about all this. Somehow in the quest for God this is appropriate for people to isolate themselves to some degree while they develop their identity. Of course the consciousness of the group feels the pain and the rejection every time this happens. It doesn't always turn out for the best. But I usually like these kind of people a lot. They speak with the same intensity and depth of conviction that I do.
I've been doing a research project and I've been calling ministers and pastors in my local area asking questions. It is refreshing to talk with people with the same intensity and desire for spirituality as myself and I'm not even a preacher. But we connect almost instantly.
So I'm not cut off from the world by circumstances anymore except for this stupid COVID19, but my thinking process does isolate me some but I don't feel pained by it. NO BRAIN NO PAIN AS THEY SAY

I'll be a little bit more open here. I only joined the Republicans about 2 years ago. I voted for Trump but as an independent.Hagoth wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:54 amToday's News:SaidNobody wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:57 am I can claim that Trump will still be my president on January 21st. One of the things Democrats like to throw in the face of Republicans are some of the old statements Trump made about them. Straight up called them probably the stupidest people on earth.
Some of us, perhaps the extended family of River Morgan, Attached to Trump as a person. We usually don't let ourselves do that to presidents because they are only there for a short time. We would not have Trump be king. But we would have the 8 years that he won. After that we probably just go back to being spineless Republicans.
I've said it before, Trump gave the Republican masses what they ask for in return for their support. And we came out in full support of him this last time as well and the numbers simply prove that the election was stolen. And even though I show you evidence you simply turn a blind eye like any other good cult member would do.
The Republican and the Democrat establishments hate Donald Trump. Obama continued to insist that Donald Trump would not become the Republican nominee. How could he even predict that?
We believe he could predict it because he was at an inner level of government. But even in spite of the Republicans and their best effort he took their nomination. They did not give it up willingly. But he had something that no other politician ever thought to offer, that was the American dream.
Trump has run his entire administration without the assistance of hardly any of the government agencies. The CIA and the FBI and the IRS and others were all against him. Just because they didn't like him and that he was destroying their plans.
The project that I have been researching has been the separation of church and state. It has been fascinating to say the least. But all of those comments from the Democrats about those of us clinging to our guns and faith and Bible were not merely passing comments. We are the threat to their plan.
And Donald Trump at some point realized it. And though even being in the government he began to court the love and respect of the church. Because he's going to need it to achieve what he wants to achieve. I am not saying that I see his mind. But I am seeing what is a genuine threat to our freedom. It's intentional. Many Trump supporters see it as well but in a course sort of way. Right now I feel a little bit like a kid in a candy store. It's like I opened up the lid to the engine and gearbox of the universe and it is pretty freaking cool.
And it was said by someone else in here, thank you for your participation in my education. I know that not all you guys like me but you've always treated me very well and this feels like a second home.
And to some of the comment that was made, Disney bought out Fox News a couple of years ago. I thought I tried to discuss it here once and people insisted that it wasn't. Disney had bought Fox Group which owned Fox News. The fact checkers also tried to bury this truth. But the truth as it has manifested is that the liberal left has taken control of Fox News. They were changing their message somewhere earlier this year but it was subtle. I picked it up as well as some others. But election day they sprung the trap and before the election was over Fox had lost almost 50% of its support. Our new groups swear they will never watch it again.
I still like a few of the hosts. But when Fox began to say WTF About the election and Trump that wasn't actually the true spirit of Fox. Already half a dozen hosts had quit there or been fired. They talk on other channels but say Fox offered them hundreds of thousands of dollars to badmouth Trump.
Anyway, Mitch McConnell might be a Republican but he was never really a Trump supporter. And before all of this finishes there may not be many people left in Republican Party.
