I was thinking the same thing...I hope not because I want Oaks to spend several years driving the church into the ground.

It's very much in line with populist conservative thought. Its main points would be right at home on the Glenn Beck Program, where every infringement is intentional and possibly part of a Marxist conspiracy.Give It Time wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 5:17 pm In light of my previous post and my recently remembering this, I think what Bednar's video is about is influencing the upcoming elections.
On the right, Trump has become the champion of religious liberty. (What a bizarre world we live in!) Whether Bednar meant to or not, I think you're right that it'll influence more right-leaning voters to cast a ballot for the incumbent-in-chief.

I was trying to imagine Jesus sitting here, but I kept getting interrupted by images of those enthralled to Mammon.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

This is kinda picky, but you'd hope a world wide religious leader would be a little more cognizant of the image he presents in this picture--his wife masked up alone with him in his private office, and a plastic water bottle sitting on his desk.
If this is not intentionally political, it's political unintentionally. There is a lot being said in that photo.

The Deseret News article is very strange. It starts with three sentences that say he's sick, it's not COVID-19, nobody knows what it is. The rest of it reads like an obituary:Give It Time wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 4:28 pm Holland's been in the hospital for more than a week and they don't know what he has?

I find it very very disturbing that the church unofficially supports Trump !! Trump is not a good person and only cares about his reelection !!!! Bednar on the other hand is just as narcissistic as Trump !!! It's nice not going to church and having to listen to how the BP supports Trump but he will tell you you can support whomever you want that's if you dont mind outer darkness. Jesus would not have this and they make a mockery of his ministry.

I can't tell you, Alas, how much I appreciate this comment. Absolutely spot on.alas wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:31 pm Yes, the church really needs to look at all the women who do not have a priesthood holding man in the home and realize that something important was being denied to a segment of the church and how denying that was cruel when blessing the sacrament over the phone or a dozen other ways to allow women to have access to the sacrament were so readily available. But the leaders trivialized the sacrament as far as single, widowed, or mixed faith marriages go. They really should practice what they preach.
Also, "Bendar" sounds like a superhero who should be working with Mr. Incredible. He can't stretch like Elastigirl, but he is really flexible.

Welp. He's out of the hospital, now, and will be resuming his duties. Call me Thomas, but I'll believe it when I see it and if I do, I will be glad, because I don't wish ill on the man.

Exactly what I was thinking.
There are 2 Gods. One who created us. The other you created. The God you made up is just like you-thrives on flattery-makes you live in fear.
Believe in the God who created us. And the God you created should be abolished.

Same here. Despite all of the wrong roads, don't you dares, and taffy pulling accusations I still have a soft spot for him. I think it's because I can't help but feel like he's giving away something about his own faith struggle when he gets outraged at doubters.Give It Time wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 9:54 am Call me Thomas, but I'll believe it when I see it and if I do, I will be glad, because I don't wish ill on the man.

Bednar's a tool, and can be reliably counted on to act like a tool in pretty much any given situation. This is a particularly poor case to make a religious freedom fuss about - several outbreaks of COVID have been traced back to large religious gatherings. If he wants to whine about his religious freedoms being attacked, using something that probably saved people's lives isn't the best way to do it. Kind of makes it seem like he doesn't care about anyone else's lives. Which he doesn't.
Religious freedom is just a way of energizing the members by making them feel threatened and persecuted. It's a technique to rally the troops and nothing more. And using it now in this context is particularly galling.

Trump is not a good person, no argument there. Some of you may support him politically, but I doubt any of you could make a compelling argument that he's a good person even if you agree with his politics.Mackman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 4:44 pm I find it very very disturbing that the church unofficially supports Trump !! But I wouldn't say the Church unofficially supports Trump necessarily - rather, the Church unofficially condemns Democrats, and the inference a lot of members take from that is that they therefore must support Trump. So members will twist themselves into moral pretzels to try and justify Trump's well-documented un-Church-approved behavior rather than make the slightest appearance of supporting those evil Democrats.

Why does he have so many computers and his wife has none? (using laptop, white desktop monitor, black desktop monitor)

The white one is his celestial connection to Jesus.
Jesus ain’t making the in person trip with COVID-19 AND while the temple is under construction.
Hence the white celestial dial up.

Since his wife can't see that one, that one's porn. Or Mormon Tinder. Take your pick.
