How about this for a prophesy...

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

How about this for a prophesy...

Post by Hagoth »

Fall Conference, 2010

Russell M. Nelson: "My dear brothers and sisters, every once in a while the Lord sends special tests of our faith, but he does not leave the faithful on their own without a voice of warning. The Still Small Voice has prompted me to tell you that one of those trials is approaching. For the next year I call upon members of the church to prepare themselves by putting away financial resources for this difficult time. To that end, for the next 10 years, please continue to set aside your monthly tithing but, instead of sending it to the church, place it instead in a special rainy day savings account. The spirit assures me that this will be adequate for the trying time ahead."

Or,

With proper inspiration and foresight the church itself could have just been taking the tithing donations and putting them in some sort of rainy day fund. Imagine the sense of marvel and gratitude members would feel (especially if the existence of that fund hadn't been leaked by a whistleblower) when the church said, "the rainy day is here and we are returning to you a full year's income." What a lesson about tithing blessings that would be; you paid and you were actually blessed in this lifetime. In the meantime the church has been investing your money and they still come out way ahead. Everybody gets a payday except us apostates who didn't pay any tithing. Double-hitter lesson about obedience!

Why bother with prophesies when the members create them retroactively for you?

From facebook:
Repost: I cannot tell you what a testimony builder this COVID 19 experience has been. Everything our governments are doing is reactive. They are trying to handle the situation as it develops, in varying stages of success.

However, almost everything our church has done has been proactive. Today, the church closed all the temples completely. On the outside, it seemed reactive. However, I see now that the Lord prepared us for this.

Less than one year ago, the church announced that couples no longer have to wait a year to get sealed if they have been married civilly. I just shrugged at the time and thought it was a great policy. However, today I see that the Lord knew the temple closures were coming and He took away the waiting period for couples who had no choice but to get married civilly while the temples were closed.

It solidified my testimony to know that Lord, through our Prophet, is not being reactive. He is being proactive.

*Come Follow Me - giving us time to become familiar with it (even if we are not perfect).

*General Conference - going to be different (even if it wasn't in any way close to our speculations)

*Closing all Temples - but already having a policy in place for couples whose lives are held in limbo!

*Age of witnesses being lowered - baptisms can be witnessed by non-priesthood holders so with 1 priesthood and 2 women, the baptism can still happen.

*Ministering - no longer focusing on visiting people in their homes but, just a general, personal caring connection.

*Online Seminary classes - An amazing tool to have that allow High School kids to continue to learn without having to physically attend class.

*Youth Changes in age - Young Men who were turning 12 this year have already received the priesthood at the beginning of the year instead of after the pandemic (hopefully) ends making them able to pass the sacrament in their homes under the direction of their bishops.

*Also, so grateful for Personal Revelation, Emergency Preparedness and Food Storage always taught by the Church.

I chose home tithing.

I hope the church will start calling “Ward Ventilator Specialists” and assign nursing ministers. That’s when you know Nelson is an inspired surgeon.

I’m having a hard time making fun of the church right now. It just seems so unimportant when surrounded by crisis.

Conference? Meh
Inspired changes? Meh

I do wonder at the coincidence of home church followed by a world shelter in place. It seems so fitting that all the signs of a demise in church activity and associated changes also fits the need when sheltering at home.

This will also be a pivot point for the church to recognize declining numbers. Of course it’s declined we’ve pulled all the missionaries home.

I seriously wonder what percentage of members just won't feel like going back to church once they've been away from it for a while and realize life goes on without it. I'm sure it will be a small but real number.

It will be far more than just the church dealing with people who suddenly enjoy working and worshiping at home. Many employers will need to provide good reasons for needing everyone in the office every day from here on out.

But, heaven forbid that you should see some real PH prayer with oil, healing the sick, miracles happening. You can look for the signs of the time, but don't be seeking a sign. Looking for signs=good. Sign seeking=bad. Wouldn't it be something if the true church, with all the keys of the PH, could show some sort of boost in the miracle territory? They could be healing the sick of both members and nonmembers. It could be a future scripture story. But their stats are no better/worse than the general populations. It's probably just more "lack of faith" or "we are being tested" crap.

But dont actually look for signs, because that is irreverent and you may get struck dumb like Korihor.
