Preparing for general conference

Post by 2bizE »

What are you doing to prepare for GC?
Pres. Nelson prophesied last October that the April conference would be unlike any we have seen...I think he was right.

I'm formulating responses to claims of President Nelson's prophetic insight, which I will probably never use.

I need to make sure I have a sufficient supply of microwavable kettle corn and diet cola. Also to set my alarm clock.

Will MoPag or Alas be doing a running commentary on the Support forum?
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Nothing.

Usually, I'm formulating plans to avoid it.

Lately, I've been formulating plans to avoid "other things"...

Edit: And I believe the Texas Sharpshooting this time 'round is gonna be epic.

Not much. I'm planning on being very underwhelmed by yet another "historic" conference.

I am a little curious about what they're going to do, though. How will this conference be different? How will the current pandemic affect conference?

MoPag is the one who has done our running commentary. I reserve the right to leave the room to bang my head on the wall. My DH watches, and as it is normally raining for April conference it is hard to really get far away, especially with our small house I have a hard time avoiding it completely. But with being shut in due to CV, I might be banging my head on the wall more than usual.

Currently there's a huge scramble of GAs doing rewrites on their conference talks to essentially say, "See, we told you this sort of thing was going to happen. You better listen to us now and help build up the $100 Billion rainy day fund.....er......kingdom of God here on Earth or you will be SMITTEN!!!! Just like those wicked Lamanites in the BofM."

They will use it as a basis for their own prophetichood. Former prophets prophesied and now HERE IT IS! See? Mormonism is TRUE!

I will be popping in occasionally hoping the camera man will fall into old habits and do a pan of the audience, so I can see Jesus sitting there by himself.

The latest bulk email says only the speakers and those giving prayers (and Jesus, of course) will be present.

"Messages of truth, hope, and inspiration will prevail..."

Boy, I hope they are thoughtful and honest enough to follow through on that promise.

Nothing.

I think he was right, too, but not in the way he had anticipated.
