Wish me luck

Post by hiding in plain sight »

I have made a pretty big life change recently. I have taken a new job in a new city and the last few weeks have seen quite a bit of change.

My kids are adults and so they are not coming with us on the move and it is just me and Mrs. HIPS. I now no longer live in the beautiful country or mormondom.

The beautiful part of the past few weeks is that I have not gone to church for 4 weeks. Woot!

But this sunday will be my first time to attend our new ward. On the positive side, moving to a new place, an LDS ward will provide immediate associations for my wife. Moves are pretty challenging for her since she doesn't work and I have now pulled her from her circle of friends. So I have no regrets for going to church.

But the problem is, I will now be living in the same ward as my mormon boss. Hmmmmm. I have told him I am a heretic, but he has no idea how far gone I really am. We are also pretty good friends and have worked together for the last 9 years.

I know. I know. You will ask me how could I have worked with my boss for the last 9 years but I have just now moved and started a new job. Well. That statement is still true and I think you can figure out how.

Wish me luck. Since I will be in the same ward as my boss, I am going to have to stay under cover for quite some time to come.

I was kind of looking forward to being more open about my lack of faith. But there is no way I am going to complicate my employment and my wife establishing a new network of friends. So I will keep on with the charade.

Again. Please wish me luck.

Good luck in both your new job and with the ward HiPS! I've been wondering how the transition was going for you and your DW. Exciting times, and a great new adventure!

Remember to let the gang know when you're back in town and have a few min free so we can do lunch or a quick hike.

You are definitely one of the good guys. You have helped lots of people as they navigate this side of a faith crisis. And I'm one of those recipients...

Good luck and thank you for everything!!
The church has engineered your eternal family into a commodity that can be purchased with an annual fee. The fact that full tithing payment is a requirement for saving ordinances is the biggest red flag imaginable. Hagoth

Good luck.

Iron that blue shirt with a little extra starch and leave the tie at home. That should do the trick.
