NOMference Fall 2019 Saturday morning!!

I have been half listening, half playing a video game. I am stuck and can’t get away from conference because my foot is in a cast after surgery. Too cold even to go outside and can’t go up or down stairs because I can’t even do crutches. And a knee scooter doesn’t do stairs. My TBM spouse man is wandering around and not paying attention while I am stuck. Arg! I should turn it off as soon as he leaves the room. Um, not really because I don’t want things like this to come between us and if I turned it off, he would respect that and then miss what he really wanted to listen to.

So, my half attention report. I liked Holland’s talk, so plus 5 for focusing on Christ and another plus 5 for using a NT story rather than BoM. The others have already begun to run together, but minus 5 for WiFi jokes to each of them that did that. WiFi is the telephone of the modern era and how would those old people have felt in 1950 about people bashing telephones. What is the difference? Oh, they grew up with telephone so it is righteous and the new WiFi is evil. Gah, old people stuck in their childhoods.

I am still chewing on his comments about polygamy. Does he not understand that making heaven sound like hell just doesn’t help?

Applied broadly this is good. But I am sure that he thinks and trusts God that he doesn’t have to choose between his two wives, but does he comprehend that they may not want that and they are trusting God that they get him al to themselves. It just doesn’t work, when heaven sounds like hell, and you have to trust God that the church is wrong.

Many women who express anxiety about how sealings work in the next life. Their leaders should see their fears as valid. They shouldn't just push them aside. Polygamy and eternal polygamy is toxic. They need to DEAL with the toxicity rather than ignore it.
