Wilcox's clumsy explanation is about the best we can expect. Kidding aside, they're trying to make crazy sound not crazy; an obvious scam not scammy. Imagine yourself trying to explain to another adult how Santa really manages to get down the chimney, like, for reals. This is how you'd look.
I think what we're seeing is the very beginning of the end. I know, I know.... but really, he's an official church teacher and he's trying to explain how magic rocks work.

That Brad Wilcox video is amazing! How can a somewhat intellectually grown man actually say all that with a straight face.

The iPhone comparison may be an attempt to get the kids to believe.
We just had a stake conference and the visiting GA kept comparing knowledge from 100 years ago to today using technology as the “see anything is possible” excuse for believing in all this BS.

Gosh if only we had a prophet who knew how to use a seer stone... if only we had a prophet who actually could and would prophesy and help out a little bit. I guess we'll just have to settle for second rate science... A seer stone would be so much more enduring rather than the paltry science iphone dropped on concrete. Their screens get broken so early, but a seer stone's screen doesn't. If only God would enable the world to learn about him by providing the blueprints of seerstones to the priesthood brethren so they could reproduce them enmass for the ever faithful...
