Do missionaries who server in Tonga fly in and out on private jets?

Probably not. But as I stated they probably wait and wait and wait for the one commercial flight that flies in there every two weeks. If you have a demanding schedule as Nelson does, whether you agree with it or not, you can't sit around waiting for the bi-weekly Fiji Airlines or Virgin flight into Tonga.
I'm not sure where you're getting your information about waiting weeks and weeks for a commercial flight to Tonga.

I just looked up flights. I can book a flight right now: The longest trip I have found is 44 hours from the Jello-Belt. With crossing the international date line, etc. it can take up to 3 "calendar" days, but weeks waiting? If I try to book a flight to Tonga to get there ASAP, it might take some waiting, but with a bit of advanced planning there is no "waiting around for a bi-weekly flight."

The Royalty of the MORmON church have their calendars planned out FAR in advance. There is no reason whatsoever that the "Have To" fly on private jets.

The runways are long but the surfaces are to weak to accommodate even a fully loaded Boeing 787. Not only that but there are very few commercial flights that even fly into Tonga. You would have to do some extremely strategic planning to avoid having to sit at the airport in Australia for a week waiting for a commercial flight into Tonga.
When I flew into Tonga years ago, the plane was a DC 8. Not a tiny plane, but not huge. At the time, it was fairly common for the same flight to be on an L1011, depending on the demand for seats.

I was looking up the same thing and it looked to me like I could book a fair sized flight on New Zealand Air or Virgin almost any day of the week. Didn't look that hard to get in and out of Tonga to me but thought maybe I was reading it wrong.
