Meilingkie, a year later
Hello all,
Thought I'd pop in and say hi.
Quitting my marriage and quitting the CHurch brought innumerable blessings, and excruciating pain.
But the pain passes, and the blessings remain.
Freedom of mind.
Freedom to eat and drink what you desire, within reason.
Lost 30 pounds, lost my eczema, lost a lot of stress, look 10 years younger friends and co-workers say.
Living with my parents almost 9 months now, and it's going fine.
Financials are getting better.
My ex and her boyfriend (of 3 years it turned out) are still on/off/on/off.
Daughter is going to go to college now, instead of being a cook and will live in my town after the summer, in an appartment.
Son is going to Finland, to live with his internet-girlfriend.
Dated around with some nice ladies myself, and now....
Well, now I find myself having booked a holiday to Germany with a very nice, intelligent, 38-YO lady an ex-mormon friend introduced me to.
And, she's LDS.Doubting, but still, a card-carrying, BIC, TBM, RM LDS from Colorado. And she's coming over for the summer to be with her sister who lives in Rotterdam, and to see me of course.
Go figure
Who'd have thought
2 pics to show the difference 2 years make.
Yes, and the GTL shows.

Great to hear that things are going pretty well. Thanks for the update!
Re: Meilingkie, a year later
Thanks for sharing your story. It's always nice to see people that leave the church end up just fine, even better than they were before.
Re: Meilingkie, a year later
Looking good Meilingkie!
I'm so glad you checked in with us. Dating a doubting LDS person gives you a lot on common. I hope you can find a comfortable place to work through the weirdness of it all.

Congrats on the dating and new found freedoms!
Your comparison pics looks like the nerdy computer guy behind the desk that morphed into the international sexy spy chasing the ladies across Morocco and on the way through killing the bad guys with your bare hands!
And speaking of spies...
Anyone else see the resemblance to Vern Troyer?

Glad to hear you are still moving forward and doing things on your own terms.

Thanks for checking in! It sounds like you are making this transition work for you. Good luck as you find new and better ways to live.

We've missed you, Meilingkie. BTW, nice shades and a younger trimmer you!
A 38-year-old Mormon lady from Colorado? Who knows, the two of you may hit it off.
Best wishes for the coming year.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Hello all,
Yes, keeping up with things mormony in Holland a wee bit.
But nothing too serious.
I resigned officially last August.
Do I miss the Church, sometimes.
You know what food you are getting, it ain’t much good.
But some of the personnel in the restaurant are nice.
In the end, food = food, it ends ups as a turd in the toilet.
Will see indeed what life brings. Can read messages on the board without getting angry anymore.
Which is a good sign .

Great to hear from you again Meilingkie. Sounds like the storm may be behind you, and may blues skies be in your future.
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.

You look so happy, Meilingkie. That's nice to see.
There are 2 Gods. One who created us. The other you created. The God you made up is just like you-thrives on flattery-makes you live in fear.
Believe in the God who created us. And the God you created should be abolished.
