I have an idea for NOM!
I have an idea for NOM!
I’m growing extremely bored and weary of talking about the cycles of Mormonism, disaffection, and the latest lunacy of the COB, the Q15, and SheriWendy garment fetish rumors. But you peeps are amazing and fun to hang out with online.
What if we combine the “church lessons” forum with the “Staying Faithful” forum to save space and create a new forum?
The idea behind the new forum would be to discuss and share: books, ideas, podcasts, music, etc.
We could call it “The Coffee Shop @ NOM Square” where anything but Mormonism is discussed! Like old friends sitting around an old bookstore or coworkers standing around the water cooler? Or like a lame singles ward potluck for the 31+ crowd where everyone knows your name!
What do you think?
The misc forum could even be rebranded or folded into?

Sounds good. Perhaps like talking about how one can teach their grandkids the new nursery rhyme Trumpty Dumpty (he sat on a wall) so they can perform it for the family right before tonight's State of the Union address. Just as long as it is not whispered. Whispered nursery rhymes seem so ...well, save that for testimonies.
The Coffee Shop sounds like a better name choice than Joe's Bar & Grill.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

I think you read our minds! I would love to see Miscellaneous turn into a more active group.

Should we establish a new style guide patterned after the old one?
• Avoid using the abbreviation “misc” or the nickname “Miscellaneous” as substitutes for the boards’s name, as in “Miscellaneous Church,” “Misc Church” or “Church of the Miscellaneous-day Saints.”

Let's do it! I like the idea of discussions about fun things with friends who understand but can occasionally let the church fade away from thought and mind.Red Ryder wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 6:13 am We could call it “The Coffee Shop @ NOM Square” where anything but Mormonism is discussed! The Church Lessons board had its place, but I think we can safely say that it has run it's course now that the have finished church history year. It hasn't seen a post in almost 2 months, so I say we can let that one go.

Love it.
Should we make it MORmONically correct and call it The Postum Shop?

Re: I have an idea for NOM!
This is a good idea. it's a forum for not discussing the church. It's not too much to admit that many of us need some new hobbies, and I'm in that category also.
Re: I have an idea for NOM!
I'm in- would love an area to post with yall about stuff that has nothing to do with church stuff.

I love it. I like the idea of book club. We could chat about a topic supported by books, TED Talks, podcasts, personal experience, Philosophies of mankind mi gled with humor (shout out to IOT), and maybe even do a google hangout or conference call once a month.
RR, I love it. The mormon stuff often gets old, I have less passion for it, and I dont want to just be negative.
