Infants on Thrones, any fans out there?

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Infants on Thrones, any fans out there?

Post by MalcolmVillager »

So I love these guys (and gal). They are appropriately irreverent for me. They make me laugh. I imagine hanging out with them or people like them. But alas, all I have in my life are a bunch of TBM's and a few nuanced believers who through some "Apostate Chicken" have revealed too little to trust they have excelled from doubter, to heretic, to full blown apostate.

Anyway, if you have not listened to them, they have had some great podcasts lately! I think they get tipsy or it is really late (or both) .

+1000 - and a shoutout to Brother Jake, too. They offer voices of sanity and humor in the midst of craziness and distortion.

Love infants on thrones! I don't get a chance to listen to it as much as I'd like because my kids are with me like 90 percent of my waking hours and the f bomb gets dropped. Which btw is not a criticism, I'm kind of a fan of the f bomb now. It's not for every day and I want to be a polite person but as a TBM I let the f word have a lot of power over me. If someone said it they were basically inviting Satan into the room. So I'm taking ownership over the word and taking its power away by saying it, even out loud at times (muy scandaloso) and consuming media that contains it.

Anyway love infants, wish I could keep up to date on the podcast all the time, I like the cussing.
Even if it's something disappointing, it's still better to know the truth. Because people can deal with disappointment. And once they've done that, they can feel that they have really grown. And that can be such a good feeling. -Fred Rogers

I'm too busy watching Narcos on netflix in my spare time now. Has lots of boobs, violence and f-bombs. Great show!

I'm a big IoT fan also. I have the good fortune to live near Matt, Scott, and Glenn and have been to a couple of social gatherings with them. They clearly have my favorite LDS themed podcast these days.

I really liked their discussion with John Dehlin a few months ago.

Sounds good to me. After DW and I finish Glitch I will see if she goes for it with me. We finished the OA and Outlander which also had boobies, F Bombs, and even some pretty rough sex and violence. She had read the book (outlander) and recently visited Scotland with her sister so she was in to it.

I tried to get her to watch The Path, but after 2 episodes she thought I was trying to show her the church was a cult and got pretty ticked. I finished that one alone. Pretty good, but it got slow.

I still listen fairly regularly but personally I think their older stuff was better. Which is odd because I do think Heather and Hamer are great additions. Lately I find I tune them out when listening. I don't know if they just have too many people in their round table discussions or if the discussion is too unstructured or what but I tend to lose interest and not finish the episode.

They seem like a great crew to hang out with but it does seem the podcast has lost some of its fastball.

I miss John Larson...he seemed to provide the most consistent, high quality product although maybe he just got out at the right time and my memory may have gilded his podcast a little.

I discovered Mormon Expression just when I really needed something to save my sanity. I will be forever indebted to John. Mormon Expression was also the jumping off point for the original IOT crew, so ME is doubly appreciated.

Right now I'm just starting to listen to Radio Free Mormon and the first episode (only one I've listened to so far) is a masterpiece of critical deconstruction. Highly recommended. I would love to hear Consiglieri sit in on an Infants discussion.

I'm a big fan of the Infants too. I'll often go back and re-listen to their archives while waiting for the new podcasts to drop.

Some personal favorites: anything on the Book of Abraham (smackdowns, etc) but especially Glen's translation of the first 2 chapters of the BOA. And also the Saturday's Warrior sing along- good stuff!

Meh... I wish they would just get to the point. For me they push the goofiness a bit too far. But they are definitely better than nothing!
