We'll be headed back to the fatherland (SLC) for Christmas this year. We'll be staying with my folks and have a big family get together. Of course we'll be attending church on Christmas day since nearly everyone else is TBM.

I just found out that my folks ward will only have SM on Christmas day and it starts at 11:30. It could suck much more, so I'm not even going to complain about this.

On Reddit, some people are saying they have 7:00 am sacrament on Christmas day.

Christmas and Easter - the perfect reasons to cancel most of church.

My normal ward schedule is from 9-12. On Christmas, we'll just have sacrament meeting at 11:00. Despite my sarcasm above, I'm not complaining.

Our SM starts at 12:00, and it's not being changed. 12:00 - 1:00 > 12:00 - 3:00.

However, we do have four wards in our building, The other three are meeting at 8:00, 10:00 and 2:00.

Good luck with the church. INSTEAD of going to SM you could just go to Harmon's for coffee in Draper with all the heathens. Not sure if they are meeting for Christmas day. Why not though? Seems like most folks there are married to TBMs and most of their spouses will still be at church that day.

7:00 am church on Christmas? What the actual what? Don't any of the people involved value getting up with their kids on Christmas morning and opening presents? I would have been so upset by that back when I was attending. I live for that Christmas morning magic.

I went to a midnight Episcopal service with a friend when I was a teen. It put a permanent weight on my shelf about how the LDS church celebrates Christmas.

Beautifully decorated church, lots of candles, religious excitement or "get those tithing talks done ASAP with a couple of pointsettias tossed on the stand unless it's actually on Christmas and then we might have Christmas songs instead."

I remember a Christmas Eve midnight service at an Episcopal cathedral in downtown Denver one year. A lovely cathedral decked with evergreen, lit with candles and smelling of incense . . .The priest and choir in beautiful robes . . . and that choir sounded like angels. I really felt transported to another realm that night . . . and when we exited the church there was a snowfall, the kind with big crystal flakes that just drift gently down.
