This link at the bottom is not my daughter's case, but it's nearly identical. It must happen often enough... Note that the court accepted the fact he confessed to clergy as somehow bearing on his case.
This is standard practice for MOTCOJCOLDS, to protect pedophiles who demonstrate substantial risk of reoffending.
Anyway, today I really struggled with it all. Spouseman is still trying to preserve a relationship with his parents somehow, even while they continue to support and enable pedo. I get he's in a tough spot, but I can't always be the one taking all the heat and sticking neck out alone.
He also is still sitting the fence wanting to be in the in group, but privately acknowledging the doctrinal problems. I would love to see him cowboy-up right about now. If I suggest it, I'm not accepting his right to have a differing belief. I dont want to micromanage him. I do need someone to be a rock for me when I need it though. I have one NOM friend IRL. My teenage son is coming to terms with his shelf crashing but is also angry.
My business is taking off and there aren't enough hours in the day. I need to let something go. It could easily be church if spouseman would let that drop out of our lifestyle. I kinda think he never will.

Sorry Thoughtful.
That article... "Treatment" from the LDS Church? Really??? I. Can't. Even... There are no words to adequately describe how ludicrous it is for anyone to think that a giant real-estate corporation can "treat" a sex offender.

O. M. G. That article! Arg, arg, arg, (insert picture of Kermit screaming bloody murder)
This perp’s primary attraction is to children. He is a full fledged pedophile. Treatment does not change the primary sexual attraction. It is like being gay. Treatment does not help, except to teach him ways of channeling his attraction in healthy ways, and to teach him the extreme damage done to kids f he touches them, and that is something the church minimizes the hell out of. Bishops have no training in the damage sexual abuse does to kids and that is what this pedo needs to stop him. Being told that it is much kinder just to kill the kid.
Have his own children been warned to never be alone with him? Does the wife really understand that she cannot ever leave him alone with the children?
Church “treatment” is no where good enough. This guy needs YEARS with a psychologist, not weekly chats with his bishop, or an “addiction support group” where he is in with kids using porn, alcoholics, prescription drug addicts, more alcoholics, and ...ummm ...him. His issue is no where the same as the disabled vet addicted to pain meds or the teen who looked at porn twice so the church declares them addicted. This is not an addiction! It is his primary sexual attraction.
The church is full of idiots if they think this “treatment” is effective.
And, hell, is supporting his wife and children more important that PROTECTING those children. His wife is an idiot if she thinks she can control this perp. Her children are in danger and she doesn’t care. Shades of my own mother. “I’m scared to support my children by myself.” Why is this pattern always the same and why is the church’s reaction always the same. They put the slim chance of repentance above the safety of children. Over and over. Penishood idiots put the possible repentance of child abusers above the safety and protection of children.
Idiot judge HAS to be a Mormon and .....an Idaho hillbilly. There, I will badmouth my state...but no body else gets to say that there are the most backwards, uneducated, lacking the common sense God gave them, gun toting, idiot, tRump voting, Mormon hillbillies living in the northern end of the Jello belt. Jello for brains.
Excuse me. I have to go find a brick wall to pound my head against.

I bet Judge Carnaroli did not even need to fast and pray about that decision.Sixth District Judge Rick Carnaroli issued the sentence on Monday at the Bannock County Courthouse in Pocatello after Tolbert’s attorney successfully argued that Tolbert deserved leniency because he was receiving treatment for his pornography and sexual addictions from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bannock County prosecutors said.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

We went through an experience where an in-law married a convicted sex offender. Then the sex offender groomed and molested a young girl in the family. Everyone abandoned them and he served another round in prison. Now, years later, the in-law is still upset that they are being left out of everything like weddings, baptisms.
The thing is, he never lost his temple recommend, even while in prison because he maintained his innocence. He roams church hallways unaccompanied and they attend FHE with the Bishop's family. Their whole ward has vilified us as a family for shunning them.
Sharing because people are crazy. Your in-laws will never see it differently.

I can almost guarantee the judge would not have been so lenient on a Catholic, Jehovah's Witness, or member of any other religious denomination who claimed to be receiving treatment through their church. It is highly likely that the Southeast Idaho judge is a Mormon who doesn't know how to treat Mormons and non-Mormons equally under the law. The Church is as good-old-boys club as it gets.
And to claim that the Church is treating his issues is laughable. Even if he is getting treatment through LDS Social Services (what are they going to call that now???), their focus is more on the LDS and less on the Social Services most of the time.

This is another chapter in the unfolding saga of how an organization goes out of bounds to improve it's own position. IMO its so fundamental to "protect the good name of the church" that the name is destined to become something less than good.
So sad to hear you are having to deal with this.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.
