I realize they don't talk about it as much as they used to but they've painted themselves in the corner with how it was taught the world was going to end.
BY taught that the mormons were going to convert the Lamanites (LOL) who would then team up to overthrow the US government which would usher in the 2nd coming, where Jesus would rule the earth from Missouri, AKA the location of the Garden of Eden.
The only end game for mormonism and humanity is for god to get so angry with humans, he torches the gentiles along with the earth, then Jesus comes back to rule the earth from Missouri. I guess that might have been slightly believable in the 1840s but who on earth actually thinks that's going to happen?
I was told in no uncertain terms that the 2nd coming was going to happen much sooner than I can imagine. With each passing day, the evidence proves otherwise, with each passing day the notion of a 2nd coming just becomes much harder to take literally. Even if I still believed in a divine Jesus (I do not), I can't imagine anyone who believes he's going to destroy the non-believers before he comes back to rule the earth.
