Prayer for those struggling with faith

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Prayer for those struggling with faith

Post by moksha »

Grant me the serenity to
discern what can't be true;
hope for finding what is true;
and DH/DW to read the CES Letter,
Ramen.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Based on closing your prayer with "Ramen", this is a dramatization of the Flying Spaghetti Monster hearing your prayer.

Serenity! Can do!

Good, an appeal to critical thinking and skeptical inquiry. An excellent desire.

It just gets better! It's a truth seeking supplicant starting with prayer!

<spits out coffee> Whoa! Leading a horse to water and drinking and all that!? I'm your friendly neighborhood deity, not some miracle worker! I can't get those goofballs in the red chairs to say nice things about mixed faith marriages, let alone provide support! It took all my efforts just to get Richard Bushman to say the "The dominant narrative is not true; it can’t be sustained.

Getting Marlin Jensen to admit that "Maybe since Kirtland, we’ve never had a period of - I’ll call it apostasy, like we’re having now," was totally lucky since it got recorded and released publicly.

Nice ending, but I'm going to have to think about this. <scratches head with noodly appendage> I wonder if some god in another pantheon has ever worked with this. I hope my ministering teachers have some ideas when they come by.

Ramen is just the Chinese term for Spaghetti. Just like Allah is the term in Arabic for the God of Abraham. same deity, different language. See, Marco Polo went to China and found these wonderful noodles that the locals worshipped. He brought them back and Chinese noodles became spaghetti. Thus, same God, different language. Have you never heard of the flying Ramen Monster?

God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.

Well, I'm better than dirt! Ah, well... most kinds of dirt; not that fancy store-bought dirt; that stuff is loaded with nutrients. I can't compete with that stuff. -Moe Sizlack

Whenever called upon to give a prayer over food, I pray to the Great Flying Spaghetti Monster in the sky. My children love it and want me to say the prayer every time now, my DH on the other hand, has stopped asking that we say prayers over meals.

Personally, I don't follow the church of the flying spaghetti monster, I am more of a Sky Cake kind of person.

Since coming out to my DW, she knows I'm not comfortable saying any kind of prayer so, she picked up asking for the prayer over the food. Now she will often let it slide unless one of the two younger kids asks about it.
