Angelic bodies distracting my thoughts.

Two topics came to my mind the other day.

First: as a TBM I understood angel Moroni who visited the 17 year old JS was already a resurrected being. Body of flesh and bone presumably, since he took back the gold plates and other relics originally taken from the stone box in the hill.
Do we have any explanation put forward as to how such a body can hold heavy things and still pass through walls?

Also how did he get to be resurrected before the second coming? (Guess third coming for Moroni)

Second: in first Nephi the boys obtain the steel sword of Laban and later in 2Ne 5:14-15 we learn that Nephi makes many swords after the manner of the sword of Laban. It goes on to explain he passed the knowledge of sword making and metallurgy on to his people.
It seems unlikely that this valuable technology would be lost but more likely it would have become the standard for weapon production.

I’m not sure why the debate about steel sword possibly meaning obsidian studded club still continues.

Anyways these are only curious fragments of vestigial interest that surface occasionally.
Any insights you might have would be similarly interesting.

Obsidian is a anglicanized translation from the old Nerdic "anglic--nees' and 'angelic--shum' words which mean, literally, "came from the earth"...and both of those have a recently discovered hyperium Dorkic translation of "peni-slinger"...which means "flaming sword". Now, by understanding those two together, the BYU apologists have extrapolated clearly that obsidian, a very sharp and "pointed" penetrating thing, can get very hard, even like "steel" which "came from the earth"...or was natural in nature and use. And the the peni-slinger that natural did what ... umm ... they do. is obviously very clear to any reasonably minded person. Just like segregation because of the curse of Cain...for example.

So putting it all together, it was a flaming sword that was sharp, pointed, and of "his",...um....I mean of THE most precious steel...

Re: Difference between 1st and 2nd resurrections.

1st resurrection had a limited beginning at the resurrection of Christ. See Matthew 27: 52-53

52"And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many."

So in LDS thought, the 1st resurrection is an ongoing but very limited thing that will go into full force at the 2nd Coming.
Thus Moroni could theoretically have been resurrected at any given time after Christ.

But I highly doubt either Joseph Smith or Brigham have been resurrected. I suppose the church could have them exhumed to find out but what a disappointment to find that the man who has done more for the salvation of mankind, save Jesus himself......still lies smoldering in his grave....

I believe the 2nd Resurrection comes at the end of the Millennium. A resurrection we would prefer not to be a part of.

There are at least two possible explanations for resurrected beings passing through walls despite being solid.

In Joseph Smith's account of Moroni's visit, he was specific about a "conduit" opening when the angel left.

After this communication, I saw the light in the room begin to gather immediately around the person of him who had been speaking to me, and it continued to do so until the room was again left dark, except just around him; when, instantly I saw, as it were, a conduit open right up into heaven, and he ascended till he entirely disappeared, and the room was left as it had been before this heavenly light had made its appearance.

And there's also Joseph Fielding Smith's conjecture that a resurrected being is able to manipulate the frequency of his or her body, and thus actually pass through walls.

Resurrected bodies have control over the elements, How do you think the bodies will get out of the graves at the resurrection? When the Angel Moroni appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Prophet saw him apparently come down and ascend through the solid walls or ceiling of the building. If the Prophet's account had been a fraud, he never would have stated such a story (as we may be sure he never would have thought of such a thing), but would have had the angel come in through the door. Why should it appear any more impossible for a resurrected being to pass through solid objects than for a spirit, for a spirit is also matter?

It was just as easy for the Angel Moroni to come to the Prophet Joseph Smith down through the building as it was for our Savior to appear to his disciples after his resurrection in the room where they were assembled when the door was closed. "The same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you."

Here, you see that the door was shut, "for fear of the Jews," but this did not prevent Jesus from appearing to them in the room. How could he do it? He had power over the elements. This has been explained by some scientists by the statement that we are limited to three dimensions, but superior beings may have many dimensions of which we know nothing. One learned man, who does not believe in the resurrection, stated that a mortal being, if his body could vibrate in the proper manner, could' pass through solid objects. Just how resurrected beings do it, we do not know, but that it has been done we do know, for the Savior and others have done it.

and it was flaming, which might be an allusion to an STI?.....nah...prophets are immune, as we all know, from poison and other stuff...

Joseph Fielding Smith had done his homework well. He was referring to March 1940 issue #3 of the Flash Comics, from the noted science publishers DC Comics.

It was revealed in issue #3 that the Flash could pass through matter by vibrating his molecular structure at near twinkling of the eye speeds. When Joseph Fielding Smith read this he was able to discern that this was the true mode used in such encounters as entering the small Smith residence unseen and unheard except by the young prophet.
