I’ve been fascinated by the power of language in storytelling. Word choice can be the difference between good and bad in religious context.

Here’s a simple example.

Self abuse
Self pleasure

No kidding. On my mission we had Loren C. Dunn come to visit and at a zone conference training he asked what challenges we faced as missionaries that he could resolve for us. At the time Bill McKeever was making his rounds to all of the big Christian mega churches in the mission teaching their congregations about Mormons and in particular how to stump Mormon missionaries. Loren asks what type of anti mormon material we hear people bring up then proceeds to tell everyone it's all lies.

Today the essays confirm many of those "lies".
