I've looked into it and read all the old sfgate investigative journalist articles. It is indeed true that some heavy conflict of interest occurred. Now, what we don't know fully is the other side of the story regarding how poorly the Marin county hospital was being run at the time. Despite this, I feel strongly that what Cook did was opportunistic and greedy.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
