Sunday morning NOMfrence thread

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

- 10 for wanton vandalism in smashing up liquor bottles in his parent's basement.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

+5 for openly admitting his polygamous marriages
-20 for polygamous marriages

-5 for a humble-brag about how much revelation he gets.

-5 for a humble-brag about how he did unprecedented work as a surgeon and how God revealed surgical techniques to him.

Hmmm... Looks like eternal polygamy is doctrine. RMN just confirmed he’s sealed to 2 women over the pulpit.

This church blows.
The church has engineered your eternal family into a commodity that can be purchased with an annual fee. The fact that full tithing payment is a requirement for saving ordinances is the biggest red flag imaginable. Hagoth

ConferenceThought: Magic isn't even remotely a thing of the past in the church. We just don't have Jupiter talismans or sacrifice dogs to find treasure anymore. We use our feelings instead of dowsing rods or Tarot cards.

New primary sharing time idea. Be like the prophet. Smash liquor bottles!

If the Father and the Son are giving away the secrets of the universe, where is my flying car, and why didn't they start with telling prophets to boil water before drinking it?

I don't even have to be an atheist to find problems with that statement. -5 for that BS.

Do you have the faith not to have miracles?

To me, it's like listening to instructions on how to get the best use out of a magic 8 ball, or connect with your seventh chakra. Maybe you can get something out of it, but it's not what you think it is.

The weird thing is, I'm trying to think of scriptures that support "be more Mormon and you'll get more revelation," but I'm drawing a blank.

Truly, the current combination of RMN & DOH is scary. Magical thinking RMN coupled with morally relativist Oaks makes me want to run for the (everlasting) hills. This will be an interesting next few years...the filtering down of this type of thinking to local leadership will be the worst outcome.

The Russell M. Nelson Worship Service is currently on, although there will be re-runs on KBYU.

-5 For openly admitting that he's trotting out speakers from around the world for the sole purpose of appearing diverse. He gave a little sneer, which should really be another -5. Do it, don't hang a lamp shade on it.

Eyring. -5
Oaks. -15
Nelson -85

Feel free to continue to give or take away points as you are moved by the spirit of NOM to do so.

Take another 10 from Zivic. His call to repentance was artless. Almost made me nostalgic for Richard Scott's hypnotic culty delivery of similar messages.
