New apostles leaked
Looks like Clayton and Pearson are the getting promoted. 2 more old white Utahans get promoted!
It's frustrating to see the last resort in a discussion of facts be: I disregard those facts because of my faith. Why even talk about facts if the last resort is to put faith above all facts that are contrary to your faith?

That's not what's on the CDOL right now. It ends with Renlund.

Uchtdorf is out of order though on CDOL, right?oliver_denom wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2018 3:06 pm That's not what's on the CDOL right now. It ends with Renlund.
If true I'm imagining the announcement to go something like this (read in Bruce Buffer's voice):
Announcing two new apostles,
In this corner is Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the Seventy weighing in at 185lbs; He has served as a member of the Presidency of the Seventy since 2008 and was named Senior President of the Quorums; He assists Elder Dallin H. Oaks in supervising the Mexico Area and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland in supervising the Middle East/Africa North Area. He served as a counselor in the South America South Area Presidency and as President while living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Previously he served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in Peru, regional representative, counselor in a mission presidency, stake high councilor, bishop, stake mission president, and Gospel Doctrine teacher.
....and in this corner we have Kevin Pearson.

Whoever it is, they will be white, rich, and vetted. And, I believe they will also be CONSERVATIVE.
Re: New apostles leaked

Right? Who the hell is this guy? His church bio and his Wikipedia page are the same thing. Maybe we should fabricate an interesting back story for him.

Oh wait, I think this is why they picked him:
From his latest GC talk: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/ ... e?lang=eng
And then he ends it like this:Several years ago, Sister Pearson and I were called to preside over the Washington Tacoma Mission. The call was a complete surprise. With some trepidation I met with the chairman and the CEO of the company where I was employed and informed them of my mission call. They were visibly upset with my decision to leave the firm. “When did you make this decision, and why didn’t you discuss it with us earlier?” they demanded.
In a moment of clarity, a profound answer came into my mind. I said, “I made this decision as a 19-year-old boy, when I made sacred covenants with God in the temple to follow the Savior. I’ve built my entire life on those covenants, and I fully intend to keep them now.”
It actually kind of makes sense if it's him.If you are struggling, confused, or spiritually lost, I urge you to do the one thing I know will get you back on track. Begin again to prayerfully study the Book of Mormon and live its teachings every day, every day, every day! I testify of the profound power in the Book of Mormon that will change your life and strengthen your resolve to follow Christ. The Holy Ghost will change your heart and help you see “things as they really are.”12 He will show you what you need to do next. This is Nephi’s promise to you:
“And I said unto them … whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.
“Wherefore, I … did exhort them … that they would give heed to the word of God and remember to keep his commandments always in all things.”13
Brothers and sisters, enduring to the end is the great test of discipleship. Our daily discipleship will determine our eternal destiny. Awaken unto God, cling to truth, keep your sacred temple covenants, and stay by the tree!
I bear witness of the resurrected, living Christ. I know that He lives. My greatest desire is that I will be true and faithful to the very end in following His magnificent example. In the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

That talk is interesting considering he was the CEO according to his bio. Of course maybe he was just the CEO of a separate owned entity and he met with the Chairman and CEO of the parent company. Or maybe he embellished his story for faith promoting reasons.MoPag wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 9:04 amOh wait, I think this is why they picked him:

Re: New apostles leaked
My brother-in-law is in a stake presidency and has worked with both L. Whitney Clayton and Kevin Pearson. Last night I told him my prediction was that these two would be elevated to apostles this weekend without revealing that I saw this leak. I figured that if I was wrong, no one would care. But if I was right, then my inspiration is a thing of admiration
My brother-in-law is a big fan of both men and seemed appreciative that I would "guess" that these were the two new apostles. I will see him on Saturday evening and perhaps he will appreciate for my divine inspiration at that time.

I didn't make this explicit above, but this screen shot looks fake. If you go onto the Church Directory and pull up this page, it lists the last modified date as January. Also, Uctdorf is in the wrong order.Corsair wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:27 am My brother-in-law is in a stake presidency and has worked with both L. Whitney Clayton and Kevin Pearson. I know. But think about how funny it would be (and how pissed off DHO and RMN would be) if the DAMU really did know the new apostles before they announced it.oliver_denom wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 12:19 pmI didn't make this explicit above, but this screen shot looks fake. Yes, I'm well aware. But I'm playing off the pride of my believing family. At worst my prediction will be forgotten quickly. If I'm right, my spiritual acumen will be hailed, even as my iconoclast ways are viewed suspiciously.oliver_denom wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 12:19 pm I didn't make this explicit above, but this screen shot looks fake. Yeah, that would be hilarious.
In a few days, we'll get a leak, that proves that the original leak was correct, but LDS-Inc. bowed to the pressure and called "different" apostles so as to not look like fools.

Re: New apostles leaked
At a time where the Church desperately needs some good PR, the choice of these two apostles seems very pragmatic. Elder Gong can speak in whole paragraphs off the cuff and sound smart.
