Trek Movie
Trek Movie
I was recently at a movie in Utah County. One of the trailers was for a movie about Trek, as in a Martin's Cove trek. It looks like one of the main characters is a young man who has doubts the church and the existence of God. No doubt he'll have a miraculous conversion and end up being a true believer. Gag. I hope my wife doesn't want to see it when it comes out, in theaters and on disc. It looks awful.

Maybe he will lay his hands on a sick bison and heal it, like in the legacy movie. Never mind, miracles don't happen anymore in the church, they will have to make the miracle something non-miraculous, like he'll see a rainbow after a heavy storm or something like that.

Re: Trek Movie
If your wife wants to see it get her to "read the book" first. As in read some firsthand accounts from actual trekkers. I have read two from the Willie company and faith promoting they are not.
Of course the movie will probably pander to its target audience.

Yes, they may, but only because he's a guy. They changed that scene in Legacy to where she only prays beside the animal.RubinHighlander wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 11:12 am Maybe he will lay his hands on a sick bison and heal it, like in the legacy movie. It would be fun to see Kirk and Spock on a long walk.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

My TBM DW had the same reaction to it as you did, which I'm glad. It does look awful.dareka wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 11:06 am I was recently at a movie in Utah County. Because there's nothing more faith promoting than watching a bunch of poor pioneers without shelter freeze to death in the middle of nowhere because some Nimrod apostle promised them they would be OK.
