Here's the real deal, the MoTab is going to: Wait for it......

Re: Rumors?
Here is a rumor hot off the press:
WASHINGTON - The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote have teamed up and painted a picture of the Donald Trump Memorial Highway on a big rock. Being a fake road, Trump is bound to take it.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Re: Rumors?
Yeh well.....Lindsay said there is controversy about it because that testimony from Emma came through William McClelland who was branded an apostate.
So, they discredit it.
Re: Rumors?
Slash or Schenker?
Nah. If they're playing with MoTab it will have to be Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, or Steve Vai.
Finally, I'm liking where this "rumor" thing is going!

Re: Rumors?
Considering our new gay-hating leadership, that actually makes sense.
And I'm with Alas on Thoughtful's Girl's Camp announcement. That was a HUGE trigger for my 2 daughters who were in YW when their brother was in YM. They watched him go on high adventure trips, water rafting, hikes to waterfalls with swimming/jumping

Both those girls are out now. Oldest is 19, next is 17. My youngest daughter is 13, she still attends but is too busy with dance for YW during the week. So sexism, along with me telling them about how JS was not faithful to Emma, and was a child predator, pushed them out. My oldest son (20) is out too.

Re: Rumors?
I'm surprised they haven't canonized it yet. But I don't think they need to. The whole idea of policy vs. scripture is smeared to such an extreme there is hardly any different. Everything is correlated now, which seems to be both policy and cannon with how things are treated.StarbucksMom wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 7:45 amConsidering our new gay-hating leadership, that actually makes sense.

They watched him go on high adventure trips, water rafting, hikes to waterfalls with swimming/jumping, Grand Canyon hikes, scuba diving in Calif (we live in AZ); while their girls camp was some lame place in Az in the summer where they couldn't wear shorts (can't give the male leaders impure thoughts, since they have to oversee it) and the highlight was testimony meeting. (granted, girls camp wasn't somewhere like Phoenix in the summer, but it was still hot.) Meanwhile their brother was running around in a swimsuit with no shirt and shorts the whole time.

Re: Rumors?
Ahhh...but will it be an acoustic guitar or an electric one with a whammy bar?
Re: Rumors?
Nah. That's an old, old rumor but it's not going to happen. Back when the CrocProc first came out we thought they might put it to vote in GC but the likelihood for that has long passed.Anon70 wrote:I read a rumor somewhere...maybe Reddit?...that the family proc will be canonized. Section 132 was never officially voted on. Which I bring up just because its interesting. The Q15 have their ways of enforcing pseudo-canonized things, regardless of a vote. The priesthood ban is another one of those official pseudo-canonized things as well.Jeffret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 9:11 amNah. That's an old, old rumor but it's not going to happen. Problem is, I don't think the Q15 can slip this one in--if they do it will be VERY VERY interesting how they do. But, haven't they already done this pretty much? Every member is STRONGLY encouraged (at least that I how I remember it) to have a copy of this hanging in their home. Right?....
Re: Rumors?
Yes.When they first released it the response from the members was, "Ho hum". The leaders didn't like that so they sent out GAs from all quorums all over the place to promote the PotF. These representatives talked it all up and gave this big spiel about how special it was and how members should post it, know it, and revere it. We thought they might present it for canonization but it became clear that wasn't their intention at all. They had already accomplished what they desired. Presenting it for canonization provided them no benefits and carried some risk. Besides, if they did ask for a vote, that would imply that they were interested in what the members had to say on it. They certainly don't. It originates from them and that's all that interests them.

The church is run by policy, not by scripture or revelation. Its rather rediculous.Jeffret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 8:11 pmYes.When they first released it the response from the members was, "Ho hum". The same McLellin whose papers and journal have been long coveted by the Church. They were actually acquired by the Church in 1908 but buried so deeply that even the Apostles sought to buy them from Mark Hoffman when he was pedaling forgeries of them. I thought Oliver Cowdery also mentioned that Fanny business.
Emma's Song pleading for Joseph's faithfulness
Take a load off Fanny,

Take a load off Fanny,
and put the load right on me.

Re: Rumors?
Let me guess...they will lower the age to 8 years old at which YM and YW can go out and do VT and HT. But can you imagine the sigh of relief from most TBMs if they just killed those programs? Perhaps tapered it off to say, liking a photo once per week on the assignees FB or IG feed?Rob4Hope wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 3:49 pm I've got a friend in MoTab. Re: Rumors?
There's a few reasons why I think this proclamation will never be canonized:Rob4Hope wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 9:01 amI'm surprised they haven't canonized it yet. But I don't think they need to. 1) Provenance - No one really knows who wrote this, only that the Q15 approved it. That would stick out quite a bit, even from the official declarations.
2) Future Denial - There's enough in this proclamation to really harm the future church once they start back peddling away from its gay-hating doctrines.
3) Public Relations - Almost ever single scrap of the publicity surrounding this would be negative, focused on the church's gay-hating positions, and resurrecting Prop 8 and November Policy discussions.
4) People will be reminded that this is the sixth such proclamation put out by the church, and none of the previous five were canonized. Why not? Lol, well, let's just say they haven't held up well over time, especially this one:
http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/cdm/ref/co ... 46/id/2818
Also, rumors are just there to hype general conference, which isn't really necessary this time around because things will actually happen next month. They'll have their solemn assembly and choose two new apostles.
