Exactly. The crux of my question.

As an aside thought, I wonder if Denver Snuffer still believes in this notion?

There is the concept in the Book of Ether where Mohonri Moriancumer sees the hand of Jesus part the veil and touch the magic rocks so the windowless wooden bowls would have light on their journey.

One point we haven't mentioned:

The magic rock told Joseph that Mahonri Moriancumer saw the finger of god.

Maybe it all came from the magic rock...
