OMG! That was cringeworthy for multiple reasons. Probably the biggest one for me is that I pulled two tours as an EQP and that is something I would have said or sent out to the quorum when I was drinking the koolaid. The last bit about home teaching makes my stomach churn a bit, remembering the days when I had to be in charge of that BS and trying to get the SP off my back by making the number look good. Public shaming ensued at Stake conference leadership meetings where the numbers and percentages would be presented, sometime in front of one of the COB 12 or 70 reps, with commitments to go and visit the lost sheep and get 100% for the Lord.Red Ryder wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:58 am Here's the crap we got in email form from the EQP to prepare for the lesson on Sunday. I'm determined to continue skipping EQ indefinitely.
Good Evening! I hope you all are having a wonderful week. This Sunday’s lesson will be on keeping the Sabbath Day holy. We encourage each of you to come prepared to be enriched by the Spirit and gain personal insight on how to enjoy all the wonderful blessings that come from keeping the Sabbath Day holy. Some questions to consider before Quorum:
What is the Sabbath Day?
What blessings come from it?
What activities can we do during the
Sabbath in order to have the Spirit?
Is it an important commandment?
Can you do service on the Sabbath?
Is it lawful to purchase on the Sabbath if thy wife is pregnant?
Ok....maybe disregard that last one haha!
Just a friendly reminder, it’s getting close to the end of the month, so try to squeeze in those hometeaching assignments in. It’s a wonderful way to serve others and help spread joy within the Gospel. Not only does it benefit others, but it mostly benefits you. The joy that comes from serving others is something that will bless you throughout the week. Please report any visits you’ve done this month to your district leaders. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any member of the Elders Quorum.

Re: No posting on Sundays
Back when the Roman Empire was trying to synchronize religious observances for worker productivity, Christians got their Shabbat shifted over to Sunday (which was the day primarily for the sun god Mithra). It wasn't that much of a burden for Christians since it did not mean any extra crucifixions in the Coliseum, and under the old system, it would have curtailed Friday night dances and games.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Re: No posting on Sundays
If I understand it correctly, Keeping the Sabbath day holy is the 4th Sunday topic for the 1st quarter of 2018. Don't know what the topics are for the other 3vquqrters.

I watched the superbowl out of defiance. I don't care much for pro football, but I felt the need to shed the arbitrary rule of DW. She wasn't happy, but I noticed several LDS fb friends posting comments about how great it was. I just want so badly to be "normal" in our house instead of zealot. I want my kids to taste normal behavior.

Way to take your life back. It was a great game. The TBMs in my life declined to join me and the other "normals" who had a party. The kids had fun playing together, the adults enjoyed the little sausages wrapped in bacon and covered in brown sugar. Good times.FiveFingerMnemonic wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 7:39 am I watched the superbowl out of defiance. I don't care much for pro football, but I felt the need to shed the arbitrary rule of DW.
