Meilingkies Return and Report 2

Post by Meilingkie »

Another few months have passed.
So I felt it's time to file another return and report.

All is well-ish of sorts.

Lot's of new things happening and developing.
New work, new church, new friends, new social sphere.
There is life after Mormonism.

DW and DD attend LDS-church about once/month, they went last Sunday.
And when they go to any kind of activity or service they come home later, and spew forth their bile.
Last Sunday they took a bag with candy along, and I asked why.

DD: This candy is the only source of comfort at Church......

I should probably also report back about the results of the reoganization in Holland and Belgium.
But to keep it brief, we lost about 35% of all active members since May last year,

Thanks for the update. Can you tell us about your new work? Are you still in the shipping/logistics business? I may be wrong but in my mind that is what I envisioned you did for work.
Losing 35% of active members sounds logical after the disruptions.

Wow, that is painful. I am in an active ward in an active area. A 35% drop would be newsworthy. Thanks for checking in with us.

What kind of candy?

I need to find some kind of comfort while at church. Currently I don't find any while there.

Still in shipping with the Same company.
But totally different Work, mentoring new staff mostly. And serve as a walking Wikipedia for all operational matters for coworkers nowadays.

My DW is allergic to chocolate.....

Thanks for the report, Meilingkie! Great to hear from you.

Why do your wife and daughter feel they still need to attend? Is it for social or family reasons?

The 35% drop has to have been devastating! Any details on how they (leaders) are dealing with it and what they're doing to try and rebuild?

In order to feel the spirit I think I would need the kind from Colorado commonly known as "edibles."

Re: Meilingkies Return and Report 2 - THE NUMBERS

Post by Meilingkie »

Many wards were combined, but after a substantial boost in May and June, the return after the summerholidays was pretty bad.
Rotterdam 1 went from 90 to 160 and back to 110. Gouda-ward added mostly.
Breda went from 110 to 170, and back to 120, Turnhout and Tilburg-branches added.
Rotterdam 2 had Dordrecht added, Went from 50 to 80, and now back to 60.

And this is just my Stake.
A neighbour who serves in the bishopric reported that every bishop gets a call immediately after the Service every Sunday, because Frankfurt wants to keep tabs on the attendance. Every Sunday.
And the SP wants to know WHO skipped Church, every Sunday.

So the numbers are pretty bad.

Why my DD and DW attend, I don't really know, and don't under'stand anymore.
So critical, but DW attends for family.
DD attends for DW.
DS attends no church at all, but is friends with a young man from the Church I attend.

Are the members over there excited for Uchtdorf's new European assignments?

Do they love him as much as the Salt Lake City ladies?

Uchtdorf being assigned to Europe, I know it 1 week before it was announced.
I call it logical thinking, many LDS I spoke call the same revelation.
They like it generally, none see it for what it really is.

An Exile of sorts

A lightbulb went on in my head and I think I get the Uchtdorf thing. He has been sitting in the FP watching Europe wards crash and not visually involved in helping. Now he can be more engaged in helping the European ladies.

That is telling. . . . . I've served on two High Councils in two stakes (in the US) and even though our attendance was suffering we were never asked WHO was not attending. Except for the Single Adult Ward. . . . they tried very hard to keep them within their radar, because at the time that group was losing activity at an extremely high rate.

It's great to hear from you my friend.
Always been the good kid, but I wanted to know more, and to find and test truth.
