Why is D&C 19 not a bigger deal?

I think members like this lie. It makes their eternity seem less perilous, and makes the ones who know the "truth" and believe it feel special, like they're in on an exclusive secret.

Basically, the same reasons a lot of Mormons like the temple.
Learn to doubt the stories you tell about yourselves and your adversaries.
