Kirby:most of us are going to hell

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Kirby:most of us are going to hell

Another great article by Kirby can be found here.

Best line is when he called the three degrees of glory a "multi-level reward program we've been promised"

Ugh. My mother actually thinks it doesn't matter because it's all part of God's plan to forward the Second Coming. That attitude is a great way to avoid having to take responsibility for anything. God's plan - not my fault - I can't do anything - let the world go to hell. I can't do that. I was raised (ironically enough by my mother) to be responsible and try to make a difference in the world.

Not that I'm annoyed at Kirby. I'm smart enough to get his winking and nodding. ;) But the whole topic brings up what my mom said, which annoys me.

I know, I love that!

And this not so subtle in your face to Mormons everywhere:
If you're thinking, "I'm not worried because I belong to the right faith," then you need to think again. The vast majority of us believe in our particular god based on less historically factual information than we just used to elect (or not) a president.

I liked this article by Kirby. Basically, he said we are all going to hell from the eyes of different religions. For Mormons, everybody but mormon is going to hell. For baptists, everybody but baptists is going to hell...and so on.

So, Kirby has outlined why Pascal's Wager makes no sense and should not be used as an argument for going to three hours of church on Sunday.
