I liked this article and I think this is coming. Here's why...Mr. Oaks.
He is an oppressor. He is a bully. People do not like this and are revolting in different ways. Some are leaving, especially the younger crowd. Some are starting to voice opinions. Did you see how many people on reddit have posted selfies about leaving? As his transition continues, it will become more easy for people to leave. It will get to the point where it will be like a Dam that breaks. The church will go from less than 30,000 people leaving annually to more like 100,000. The millennials are going to set the example and many will leave. If you have 4 kids and they all leave the church in early adulthood, would it make it easier for you to leave too?

Imagine if they say Joseph made most of it up. Who in their right mind would continue more than a cursory membership after that.
I know someone irl that told me directly that even it the church admitted the BOM was a) completely made up by JS, 2) plagiarized from other books or 3) dropped on earth by aliens they would still believe it was scripture due to the amazing spiritual experiences they've had in relation to its teachings.....
If you look carefully at the history of the Church its most obvious characteristic is its ability to change and adapt to changed circumstances irrespective of its fundamental doctrine. Doctrine is secondary to the need to adapt The United Order was abandoned early in the game when it didn't work even though it meant that Zion could not come . Tithing is invented as a substitute. The Saints gather to Missouri which was where Zion was to be but were forced to abandon that plan so all of a sudden a new gathering place was chosen. Joseph and his designated successor are killed ( despite being promised he would not be "removed out of his place") and the church gets reorganized to fit new circumstances even though the new organization was contrary to the Lords directive in scripture. Scriptures are routinely revised and significant doctrinal parts removed or added. BY teaches and it is argued before the Supreme Court that polygamy is absolute fundamental and essential to church doctrine and no man can be exalted who doesn't have at least 2 wives . Then suddenly it is determined that it isn't so important and if in fact you practice it you will be kicked out. Adam was our God for 50 years and then he wasn't and anybody who taught that doctrine was xed . People were routinely rebaptized to affirm their covenants not for readmission ( everyone who came to the SLV before 1865 had to be rebaptized or subject to discipline ). Now if you are rebaptized to reaffirm your covenants you are e'xed Beer is expressly approved by the WOW until Heber Grant the head of the Utah temperance society ( who had an alcoholic stepfather ) suddenly decides otherwise. Blacks are told it was fundamental doctrine that they can not have the P in this life ( see message of the first Presidency 1949 ) . But 30 years later every president of the church is thrown under the bus and declared to be racist and their teachings on the subject disavowed when the Blacks get the priesthood. I could go on but the trade name which is the COJCOLDS (it has no real legal existence and doesn't actually own any thing because it doesn't actually exist ) will continue and survive because like a cockroach it is first and foremost a survivor and extremely adaptable over time to changed circumstances.

Battered women were sent home to their husbands and told to do a better job obeying. They still are. There might be a brief side trip to a shelter, but I have heard of bishops tracking down women in hiding to take them home.
Amen. Thank you GIT for saying this. I can report first hand experience this does happen. I was told if I had been a better wife this (the abuse) would not have happened.

I'm so sorry that was your experience.
