November Thanks and Reminiscence

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

November Thanks and Reminiscence

Post by moksha »

After all is said and done, I would like to think there is hope for everybody. Hope for you, hope for me, hope for everybody. Even when things seem hopeless and everyone around is sad or filled with rancor, there is always hope. When sometimes I feel beat down for all the pain in my life, the thought of there being hope is a godsend. Who knows what form that hope will take, whether a glorious hereafter where St. Peter, the cosmic consciousness, or even Joseph Smith are on the welcoming committee, or whether it is just a sweet release from pain, there is hope.

I only gain a surcease from pain when I am able to laugh (although with a lung infection mere giggles are sufficient). I need to remind myself not to tear things down and to hold hands while crossing the street. Those early lessons still hold some value.

I feel grateful for every courtesy extended to me and for every blessing (with or without ceremonial oil) that I have ever received. Did I deserve it? Yes, because I am a fellow child of God or some consciousness greater than myself. I have hope.

As Elder Alfred Tennyson once said more or less, "We are a part of all that we have met and it follows us onward". For those parts that have brought me joy and growth, I say thanks. For those parts that have not, I embrace you anyway, for you have carved more depth into my being.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Hope is all we have when Jesus fails to respond. Sometimes I wish the priesthood was real and blessings actually healed all people. Wouldn't that be awesome especially if you could do it from a drive through window?
