Consultants for the church

If a business is floundering and going under, it is very common for the executive leadership to bring in consultants knowledgeable in helping with such a problem. Do you thing the church has been bringing in various consultants? Or do you think the church is too wise and already full of Prophets, seers, and revelators that they can manage it themselves?

They hired a Jewish PR firm a few years ago. Doubt they would ever seek an independent financial audit.

At the end of my mission, I recall my mission president telling me, "In order to receive inspiration, you need information."

I think it is very likely that the church hires consultants on many matters. I also think it falls very much in line with the way the church defines the gospel and personally don't have any problems with it.

CAMPUS IS OUR WORLD - The honorable D. Gunther Holland of the Honor and Penitence Committee issued a stern warning against the use of tealight candles both on campus and by BYU students. Elder Holland added this suggestion, "If candles are to be used, make sure to use ones that are not against the Word of Wisdom." It is suggested that students follow this warning or else.

I suppose the above story is an example of where the Church could have used an outside consultant to inform the administrators at BYU that tea is not an ingredient in the making of tealight candles.

Thank you for connecting those dots. I thought the problem with tea light candles is Catholics use them, not because of the word "tea". I was all "what?!" I was too busy laughing to even be [W]TH or [W]TF.

To be a Mormon it is sometimes necessary to think like a BYU administrator.
