Doubt your doubts, children...

Post by Sheamus Moore »

"I Will Be What I Believe", a primary song/music vid, hits all the talking points (follow the prophet, JS, BOM. pioneers) from the get-go. Indoctrinate 'em young! Oh, and doubt your doubts, kids (@ 1:21).

What think ye?

They are framing belief as a bravery. It's not a really helpful for discerning truth, but it's great for inspiring conformity.

It's a beautiful song if you distract yourself from the lyrics.

It seems like the message is changing from simple messages of doing good and loving everyone to a message that the rest of the world is trying to fool us. One of the first lines is "Even though it's still hard with questions that arise every day..." Questions are bad.

I smiled when I saw the girl with the "Believe in Magic" shirt.
“The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also.” -Mark Twain

Jesus: "The Kingdom of God is within you." The Buddha: "Be your own light."

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
