Garment Changes

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

That is comforting to know. Those new garments posted on the last page look rather formidable and will undoubtedly be welcomed by LDS women as a vast improvement.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

For those who chafe at the current design of the garment I present what Heber c kimball was instructing people at Nauvoo...
One other thing. You all want to get garments, and you need not wait to get fine linen or bleached cotton for your garments. Shirting or sheeting will do for garments. The women can cut theirs from the cuts on their husbands.

I think when the new garments come out, we should have a NOM fashion show with the new styles. I'm hoping they have new bottoms that quickly dry for fly fishing streams in the summertime. I secretly hope they have a new lingerie garment style...with crotchless bottoms.

I don't know man, I just can't imagine crotchless garments ever getting my motor running.

Pretty sure the originals actually were crotchless.

Yes indeed, with that fancy tie system up front. Creeps me out looking at them.

The battles I was having with my garments disappeared when I started wearing the one piece. I don't know what I will do without them once they are gone. The one piece prevents the rolling up of the tops, the problem when your pants waist doesn't match your garment waist, the issue of having to always tuck, and having so many layers around your hips and waist.

I was so tired of having the bottoms that went up to my armpits and tops that went down to my knees. With the one-piece it was one layer, there were no lines and everything was smooth. And way better during pregnancy than an elastic band that went across my stomach. A little weird and totally unsexy, but hey, garments are weird (and totally unsexy)!
Dang! You make me wish I hadn't got rid of mine!

I don't know about men's garments, but one-piece women's garments came in two styles last I knew: One was crotchless and one was not.

The church really overthought this garment thing. I just thought they looked cool when we lounged around in them when the anointed quorum got together. In all honesty, I was just yanking Brigham's chain. He hated wearing them, so I kept going just to piss him off. I never thought that everyone would double down on them after I died...

Brother Joseph, why the fancy tall collars on them? Today we just rely on them poking out of shorts at the bottom, or the two Tshirts in summer look to show our righteousness.

At the time I was beta testing some translation glasses for the rest of the guys. They had sort of a blue tint to them which made it easier to see letters in a hat. (I can't really be sure that some of that Book of Mormon stuff is really right, the letters were hard to see). Anyway, I put the tall collars on because when we flipped them up and sat with our glasses on, we looked like total ballers.

Also, two shirts? Really? Take that crap off when you need to.

I highly recommend them . I have a red pair on as I type this . They are far superior to anything else I have ever worn.

I saw the rumors of the tank top style garments months and months ago. All I can say is...

The garment change is starting to feel like a new policy allowing people in the USA to get sealed immediately after a civil union and new Sunday School manuals. Something that's always coming "next year."

Hey...Its not completely germane but I heard some GA actually gave a talk about JS and HS taking off their garments before they went to Carthage,...and had they left them on they would have survived?

Don't know if that is true...but the "magic protection" comment brought that to mind.
The part of taking off their garments is true. However the details are much different than common assumed . Joseph recommended to the group that went with him that they not wear them because " it was too hot' . Everyone except Willard Richards followed Joseph's example . After they were in the jail . The accounts differ in some details but the consensus is that Joseph sent Stephen Markham ( or the jailer's assistant) out to buy wine ( and probably tobacco )so that their spirits might be" lifted". Markham went out and bought the wine but the jailer would not let him rejoin the group . He did take the wine to the prisoners and their spirits were lifted. A few hours later the mob attacked and Joseph and Hyrum were killed and John Taylor seriously wounded .Richards was not harmed at all . Hence all the faith promoting stories about the efficacy of wearing garments

Now wait just a damn minute?

Markan went out to purchase wine? and tabacco? The kind you drink and enjoy,...err....and the kind you smoke?

I am REALLY loosing my testimony now! Inconceivable!

Why can JS take off his garments and drink alcohol and smoke tobacco. Oh wait...he didn't drink it cuz it was non-alcohol kind.

AND HE DIDN'T INHALE!

Phew. Glad that faith crisis stuff has passed. Almost lost my testimony over that!!! ;)

And lest we all forget, he did NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN! If he did, Brian Hales would have said so.

So there...(i say with sarcasm...)
