D. Michael Quinn's New Book Now Available On Kindle
D. Michael Quinn's New Book Now Available On Kindle
I wasn't sure where to post this for those interested, but since the recommended reading list is on this forum, I'll post it here
Quinn's new book is now available on Kindle for $9.00 on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Mormon-Hierarchy ... hael+quinn
The hardcover is still not going to be available until October, I guess....sigh. I've had mine pre-ordered forever it seems and they just keep pushing back the date. I'm anxious to see what this book covers, so I may go ahead and get it on Kindle while I wait for my copy.
Or, you can order a used copy for $4,000, I guess! That's pretty funny. Who'd order that???

I also pre-ordered the hardcover long ago. In case you didn't notice and might be interested, your pre-order triggers the "matchbook" price so that you can get the Kindle version very cheap. I just did that.

Oh wow! No, I did not see that! I just ordered it for only $2.99 on Kindle....cool, thanks

What's a kindle?
We should have a book club post to discuss the book. I might have to look into a kindle unless there's a rock in a hat iPad translation app. I'll check with Elder Uchtdorf.

There is a Kindle app for iPad, but the Kindle itself (or other equivalent device) has a screen that's much better for reading things of significant length. Especially if, like me, you already stare at a screen every day for most of the day.

Thanks for alerting us about that - I had it on pre-order, so I paid only $2.99 for the Kindle version. I can see what I'll be doing for the next few days.

RR- I think there may be an app on the computer. Also, if you have an iPhone or iPad, there's a great Kindle app for those. I prefer the app to a regular Kindle; I tried one for a few days and hated it.

So, how is this book going? Is it really good?
Re: D. Michael Quinn's New Book Now Available On Kindle
I started reading the portions available on the Amazon site. This book is a true treasure trove of information on the commercial side of the LDS enterprise.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Behold your rock in a hat:

Check out a program called Calibre. It's an e-book management software. Amoung its many features is one that will translate a book from early any format into nearly any other format.

Re: D. Michael Quinn's New Book Now Available On Kindle
if money is not tight (pardon the pun) then I would go with the hardcopy. I bought Quinn's magic World View - utterly convincing (though Quinn himself is a believer...
Quinn is a meticulous academic and the end of chapter reference lists were huge, and using an ipad running an app, and scrolling through the references page after page, was no fun (there was no contents and go to page option). Also there were no pictures, unlike the hard copy.
I'd consider buying it just to give some royalties to Quinn, I don't think he is wealthy and along with Grant Palmer he has saved me a lot of money in helping me out of my payments to the corporation of the president.

At the halfway home. I'm a full-grown man. But I'm not afraid to cry.

I think I agree. If his Mormon Stories podcast is accurate than he is actually in poverty.
