Genomics and past migrations

EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF HUMAN GENETICS—Copenhagen

Using a recently-developed technology, the ancient Geographic Population Structure (aGPS) tool, the researchers were able to find the geographical origins of ancient DNA...

The results allow the researchers to confirm the theory of the massive migration of populations from the steppes of the Caucasus (the Yamnaya) to Central Europe during the Late Neolithic period (3500 to 2300 BC). "We discovered that Central Europeans were always on the move, continuously mixing with other populations and forming ancient cities in Germany, Denmark, and Hungary, for example, close to modern-day Hamburg and Berlin, and Budapest. In contrast, Near Eastern peoples tended to stay close to home," says Dr. Elhaik.

Those Near Eastern peoples were such homebodies.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Cool stuff! I also liked the article on the mound building:

Too bad none of the artifacts had any reformed Egyptian characters...

Also, I had my DNA tested (98% Western and Eastern European) and they were able to determine that I have Neanderthal ancestors. I showed that to my father and I could just see his mind twisting and contorting, trying to find a way to fit Adam and Eve into the genetic results.

You should start a DNA testing service for Mormons and other conservative, orthodox Christians. Your customers will send a DNA sample to you (eww...) and you will pass it along to "23 And Me" or "Family Tree DNA". Even somewhat LDS affiliated "AncestryDNA" is considered quite reputable. When you get the results back, just remove any dates before 4000 BC and include the line "100% descended from Adam and Eve through Noah". For Mormons, just include a line saying that the Garden of Eden is totally in Missouri based on genetic markers in their DNA.
