"The Son" No Outrage
"The Son" No Outrage
So, there I was minding my own business watching AMC's "The Son" and the main character is saved by a mildly crazy woman who refers to him as a "Lam-in-ite". Later, she's going through rocks at the creek looking at brown egg shaped striated stones. Which she puts in a top hat. Sticks her face into said hat and "gets revelation". Anybody notice the links? No wide spread concern.

I had not seen that show. But it seems too spot on to be coincidence. Surely the writer has at least a familiarity with LDS history.Brent wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:17 am So, there I was minding my own business watching AMC's "The Son" and the main character is saved by a mildly crazy woman who refers to him as a "Lam-in-ite". How many times have we said the real history of the church would make an awesome HBO series?
This show took the phrase "the truth is stranger than fiction" and applied it to their daily production.

After a he called him a lam-inate they went to the creek scene and when she was selecting rocks I actually said "whoa" out loud, the Missus asked "what?" Chickening out I just said, "nothing".
She finds the new information on revelation to be a bit unsettling.

No concern or connection. Remember, everybody back in the day chased around looking for buried treasure using the rock in the hat trick. It was a trend of the past like fidget spinners. Everybody had one. /sBrent wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:17 am So, there I was minding my own business watching AMC's "The Son" and the main character is saved by a mildly crazy woman who refers to him as a "Lam-in-ite". Hey, I did see that episode and had a really good chuckle with my wife over it.
The woman character doing the hat trick said she had somehow offended the Elders of her religious community and she had been temporarily banished. I don't know if many outside the LDS community would have recognized the connection with the church but I had no doubt the author or screen play writer was familiar with early Mormonism.
The clincher was when she decides to turn the kid in to collect a reward paid for returning whites stolen by indians. She says the money will help sway the Elders into letting her back into the fold.
