Hello all! So glad to have found you again!

Post by Vlad the Emailer »

My world hasn't changed much, although I did change my username. Four years is a long time to be InsideLookingOut, and even though I am still mostly inside, I'm now not just looking out, I'm begging to get out!

Anyway, so much thanks to Red Ryder, Hagoth, Corsair; any and all that were part of this NOM resurrection. Like some/many of you, I went elsewhere, but frankly, even though I met great people and had a few really great conversations, there's just no place like NOM. :D (Speaking of which, please don't start allowing profanity. That was a major turnoff to me when I first found the Disaffected Mormon Underground online several years ago, and I still don't like all the "F" words and the like that can be found on some DAMU sites.)

Also, thanks for the mixed faith relationships forum. I always thought that was needed, and being that DW is as TBM as ever, I'm sure I'll go there often to read up and learn from you fine folk.

Should probably still include a brief intro: I was raised Mormon due to my grandfather. He joined Mormonism before my time, and was as faithful as faithful can get. After my two older siblings had already been baptized, I was baptized the same day as were my parents, just before I turned ten years old. Parents didn't last long as they were inactive within a few years of baptism, but we kids were so involved in all the youth stuff (I actually liked the uniqueness of being Mormon in the Midwest), it just became a way of life and we were sucked in. (Now widowed ex-mo mother still apologizes for her part in our indoctrination.) Went on a mission in So Cal (was among the 18 month males in the '80's, thank the flying spaghetti monster!) and hated it, but was too brainwashed to listen to the "anti's" and later would waste an obscene amount of time and effort searching for the eternal companion that now keeps me glued to the corporation of the president. :(

About 10 years ago I heard of the DNA studies that "confirmed" that Amerindians descended from Asia. I said to myself, "no way, their origins are Jewish/Middle Eastern; I know because the "true church" told me so". That information led me to the internet to find the lord's side of the story, which led me to FAIRMORMON, which, with it's intelligence insulting excuses and rationalizations, led me, eventually, to a complete state of unbelief in the truth claims of the Mormon church. I now consider myself agnostic.

Anyway, thanks again. It's great to be back!

Thanks Corsair.

I had to edit to include the disaffection details. Kind of an important part of the story to leave out. :o

And thanks for letting us use more than two smilies. I never did understand that. :?

That is pretty much the end of my story too.

I like the new name a lot haha. Last year I got the chance to visit Bran castle. It's beautiful and not like I'd imagined and I had no idea what a hero he was to his country until I visited there. They also have Templar night armor displayed inside the castle which was neat to see.

Did you see that they had a contest last month for someone to win spending Halloween night in the castle, the first time in 70 years some one has stayed overnight. My husband and I went back and forth on how creepy or not creepy it would be. I think I would pass on sleeping in the coffin just for the sake of comfort (and don't put me by the secret passage or the room with the... uh... equipment in it). It was for sale not that long ago if I remember correctly but that is another story. Anyway, great name choice :)

Thanks Lithium. Wish I could take credit for coming up with Vlad the emailer, but I saw someone use it on a sports message board years ago and thought that I might someday steal it.

I was not aware of that contest. I would SO LOVE to do that. I would even go for the overnight in the coffin!

Thanks also for quoting those lines from my post as I now see some misspelled words. Still wonder about using "lead" when it should be "led". For some reason "led" just doesn't look right.

Maybe they will have the contest again next year. Think about putting a visit on your bucket list. One Romanian Leu is equal to an American quarter. It's an affordable trip relatively speaking. Hit the castle and then the beautiful town of Brasov. (My husband and sons were baptized in the black sea in Constanța, Romania but again another story)

As far as the misspelled words haha... I didn't even notice. I'm safer having the church police this site than the grammar police.
