So the Stake President sent email saying he would be stopping by our house, unless we let him know the time would not work.
We let him know that the time selected would not work, he then responds that he will reschedule.
We both have been setting firm boundaries and have turned down callings, we have great kids that think for themselves and have also used the power of no to respond to questions ask of them. We are at a great place with regards to our relationship and activity level with the church, we must be the only ones satisfied with current relationship structure. I hope they don't start to screw things up with pressure or ultimatums.
Wonder what he wants to discuss?? Best guess wins a prize!

Re: Stake President visit......
Dammit, I don't seem to be able to get a meeting with the SP even if my salvation depended on it
If I didn't know better, I'd think he's avoiding me.
Let's, why does your SP want to meet??? You have a son/daughter that is 9 and unbaptized.

All children have been baptized. We are MIT, previously TR holders, ward and stake callings, very active family.
I think it will be to see what sins or misdeeds we need to repent of to get us back to our prior workhorse service load.

Bishop wanted to visit me at my home (I am active) I let the ward exec sec know I am very busy and there is no time in my schedule for a visit - I will see him on Sunday during church if he is interested. That seemed to get the point across.
If you are not comfortable with someone coming into your house and thinking they are the authority figure then don't allow it.

At the halfway home. I'm a full-grown man. But I'm not afraid to cry.

Great point redjay. I think we will take the meeting when it fits with our schedule. I want to see what he has on his mind. I know he has no answers that would unwind the wicked man made web the church has weaved. Plus it will give another opportunity to clearly lay out future boundaries for what our interaction will be in the future. Just curious if others had been recently approached and what the topic dejour would be.

I think the stake president wants to meet with you because the Strengthening The members committee was able to identify your name and they have dispatch this stake president to talk to you. Secretly however the stake president is actually an NOM

Re: Stake President visit......
I had a firm rule that I would not have church-related visits in my home. My house is not an extension of their turf, and I know the "home visits" thing operates on the theory that you're extending friendship, but my actual friends don't invite themselves over to my house. It's all about putting you in the position of not saying no. They've already intruded into your own private space, so a few more steps will be that much easier.
Maybe some won't agree with me, but my preferred way to meet with the leaders was in their own office. And I controlled the amount of time I was there, as well as the topics of discussion. I resigned by meeting in person & laying out my intentions, and it worked. I am also still on good terms with the bishop and stake president.
I've always hated the church culture of ignoring boundaries and members "visiting" homes by inviting themselves over. What a crock.

It's all about "rescuing" you. The kids are baptized, but are any getting old enough for missions? Also, it's not unusual for stake presidents to be asked to haul GAs to see those who are "struggling" when they're in town. However, I suspect you'd have heard you were targeted for that honor. They contacted me about a GA/SP visit and I declined (but I said I'd meet at the church - then I realized I was to be gone that period of time). I resigned less than a month later. See my other post for my thoughts on the whole "home visit" thing.Nowyoutellme wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 1:00 pm Great point redjay. I think we will take the meeting when it fits with our schedule. There are 2 Gods. One who created us. The other you created. The God you made up is just like you-thrives on flattery-makes you live in fear.
Believe in the God who created us. And the God you created should be abolished.
