You know what I hate?

Post by Emower »

Lots of stuff.

But seriously, I hate having to explain, or listen to my wife explain, to our little kids why that person up there at the podium is crying. "She's so happy and thats why she is crying? I dont understand..."
Neither do I little buddy, neither do I....

Or why "they're not really happy" when they look extremely happy.

What a mind melt. Where else is happy not happy? Crying not sad? Black not white? Garments appropriate lawn mowing attire?

I don't know if this qualifies as 'devil's advocate' but if I might indulge in a friendly counter position, I think kids are capable of understanding that different people see things in different ways. I'm not suggesting that this makes it any less annoying to have to tell your kids this stuff, but they're going to run into differing viewpoints sooner or later anyway. This is all coming from a guy without kids so take it for what it's worth.
