Baptism Gift Idea?

Post by trophywife26.2 »

What can I get my niece for her baptism since I don't believe any of it??? :/
Even if it's something disappointing, it's still better to know the truth. Because people can deal with disappointment. And once they've done that, they can feel that they have really grown. And that can be such a good feeling. -Fred Rogers

I think that is very pretty and a great, sweet gift :)

I went to a family member's baptism and didn't want to give anything "churchie". I got them a necklace from etsy that was a silver heart and they personalized it with her name on the heart. There were two jewels that hung with the heart and I picked her 2 favorite colors (pink and purple) for them or you could do her birth stone, etc. She loved it and her Mom has told me that she never takes it off. So that's another idea!

I really like the necklace idea. She's probably a little young for a copy of Rough Stone Rolling or Nobody Knows My History.

Personally, I'd give her flowers.

If not that, then probably a gift card to go get a pedicure together. Those are both things that my 8yo would love.

(I think the little heart tray is lovely and jewelry is a great idea, too.)

Baptism and priesthood ordinations are where you will get gifts that make your parents more excited than you will be. When I turned 12 I wanted more Star Wars action figures. Instead I got a tie and a book on advancing in the priesthood.

"Pretend" she's turning 8 years old, and get her any random gift that could be given to an 8-year-old for their birthday.

Lol, notice it's the guys that are chiming in with this, I didn't get jack for my baptism either, heck I had to walk uphill to the baptismal font with no shoes (both ways too!) but apparently it was a big thing in my wife's family, so my kids got gifts. spoiled kids these days ;)

Framed copy of the CES Letter?

Give her a handful of "Alka-Seltzer" and tell her to keep these good luck charms in the pocket of her baptism outfit when she goes down in the water.

I already got her a present for her birthday lol! ;) It was age appropriate and fun, more along the lines of toys. I know not everyone is required to/or has a tradition to do gifts for the baptism, but I guess I feel like I want to go out of my way to show we support and love for her even though we won't be doing the same ritual with our kids. I also liked the idea of something that says follow your heart or something that shows be true to yourself or something beyond follow the prophet. ya know?

I guess she is a little young for CES letter though

When my niece was baptized I no longer believed. I knew her clothig size, it was similar to my daughter. So I got her a cute sweater dress with leggings-something not too fancy so she could wear it to church or school or out to dinner. She loved it and I saw her wear it several times.

I love this idea...simple, but different....and kids love making pictures and drawing. Give these and then maybe ask them to make you something colorful to hang up or put out :)

Yes, I remember being so excited about what the wrapped gift was at my baptism... it was a quad. What a bummer.
