Last night was our first get together with my parents and siblings since I told them I don't believe in the church anymore. Everyone was happy to see me and we had some fun discussions. My full-time stake missionary dad asked everyone when they thought the second coming was going to happen, but the rest of the family quickly moved on from the subject. He's going to be difficult, but it's nice to see I can count on the others to help avoid conversations that don't make sense anymore.
There was definitely a sense of nervousness, it was clear we were all trying to figure out how this is going to work now, but everyone seemed committed to making it work. I think we are going to be just fine. Maybe not totally normal for a while, but we will get there.

Great to hear this; you said in your last post you knew it would be awkward, but you hoped it would be fine. Looks like it worked out!
As I'm visiting with my children this week, it's wonderful to see how those relationships become much more important to us all, than their Dad's disaffection - even Sister M is mellow this week. Heck, she even left after sacrament with the rest of us. Hope springs eternal.
