Someone talk me down!

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Someone talk me down!

Post by blind_nom_ore »

You know how sometimes you would run across those people who you just KNEW were ripe for the gospel!? Well, I happen to know a couple who are absolutely ripe for NOMhood. I have to try really, REALLY hard to not let certain things slip. Although I would LOVE for them to be set free by the truth, I know that I don't actually want to be the one responsible for any marital, familiar, etc discord that such an awaking might have... Sometimes it's hard keeping my mouth shut...

Hmmm...

How about letting a few code words slip out. Here's a few.

You get the point. You'll catch a few fish and a lot of silly looks from believers while innocently dropping hints. Funny story here. I was in the car with my two brothers getting propane for a BBQ and one of them says, "have you heard of Mormon Stories?"

A few months later and he calls to tell me he's had a faith awakening! All in his own because I didn't mention anything to him about mine. We must also remember that we aren't responsible for the truth and the collateral damage it may cause. The church is responsible for hiding, whitewashing, and polishing the turds of Joseph Smith to look like seer stones. Not us.

You can lead a horse to water but you can make him drink.

Just be patient, make a couple subtle gestures/signals. If they bite, congratulations. If not, wait 6 months. In hindsight, I had hint after hint after hint until one day and POOF. But if someone would have force fed me...

Geez, really need to take my own advice.

Yeah, they have to be rippened unto destruction by their own doing. I have tried to gently prod DW but that hasn't worked to this point. She has opened her eyes to doctrines, policies, and history but her commitment to the social church has not changed.
