The story begins at about the 8:00 minute mark.
Elder Bragg says that the stake center caught fire and the fire commander showed up and called to ask a Mormon friend where the "sacred relics" and sacrament cups were so they could be rescued. (laugh line)
The unnamed Mormon friend assured the unnamed Fire Commander that there were no sacred relics and that the sacrament cups were very, very replaceable.
Nevertheless, as the fire "raged," the commander felt he should do more.
It seems hard to believe that a firefighter would actually send his firefighters into a burning building to retrieve artwork. And these aren't Picassos we're talking about, either! So the fire commander sent his firefighters back into the burning building to pull every painting of Christ off of the walls so they might be preserved.
They even placed a picture of Christ in the fire truck in the hope that the firefighters might be watched over.
But that is the story Elder Bragg told in General Conference.
I did a little google research and it appears from comparing the pictures shown in GC with the pictures in the news story that the stake center at issue was near a brush fire in Glassell Park where embers hit the roof and started a fire there, collapsing the roof and going into the attic.

It does not appear that any fire would have been "raging" or otherwise in the first floor of the stake center where firefighters went in to get art out. Indeed, in the pictures shown during general conference, it appears the fire was pretty well out by the time the firefighters are carrying out pictures.
I would expect the only potential damage to the pictures might have been water damage from the attic above.
Is this another whopper told during General Conference?
All the Best!
