Since reading the LDS Essays almost three years ago and completing my faith crisis (but still attending because...reasons) it seems to me that every meeting or conference-local or General-there is a focus on people falling away.
I'm trying to determine if this is just my perception because to be honest, hearing that validates my experience and resonates with me. But is it real? I remember when I was TBM I always felt like the issues I was having were the ones spoken of during meetings and conference.
Or, is this really happening? I lurk on Reddit EXMO and it does "seem" like the church is in crisis and losing significant numbers.

I remember Corsair posted a graphic that illustrated how much this theme dominated last conference. I think over 30% of the apostles mentioned people leaving directly? Is that right? A great graphic.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the post.

Oh yes, they are worried. Very worried. For added evidence, just listen to the Mormon stories interview with our own Meilingkie. I don't think Europe is the only place going through this.

Re: GC Topic question....
I have noticed a tangible uptick in members mentioning friends, coworkers, and family leaving the church or challenging their beliefs in talks and lessons. Almost weekly. Just had a lady approach me about one case today in fact. I don't think it's just perception based.
Re: GC Topic question....
That was a great graphic! Thanks!
It does seem like everyone "knows someone" who has recently left. I feel like it comes up frequently when chatting with ward members.

^^This. And yep, almost weekly. Or at least every F&T meeting.FiveFingerMnemonic wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2017 7:33 pm I have noticed a tangible uptick in members mentioning friends, coworkers, and family leaving the church or challenging their beliefs in talks and lessons. It will be interesting to see how often the "stay in the boat" line is presented at this coming conference.

They should just embrace the exodus. It is a sign of the end times. They are missing out on capitalizing on sending the message that Jesus must be coming soon.
So we need everyone to make sure you pay your tithes and get your indexing done, cause damn you don't want to mess up when our lord and savior, even Jesus Christ comes back.

I'm wondering why they aren't doing that too. Reinforce the message that the TBMs are the elect, the wheat, and it's sifting time. I guess if they did that though, it might set off the Julie Rowe crowd or draw unwanted media attention.

I think that after almost two centuries they have realized that you know what, chances are Jesus isn't coming back for a while. Touting the end-of-the-world trumpet is only a short term solution, so I think their response shows a bit of maturity. Of course, I could be proven wrong in a week.
