Spoke in church

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Spoke in church

Post by Raylan Givens »

DW and I gave the customary new to the ward talk. DW knocked it out of the park, she is an amazing speaker, she draws from so many sources.

I gave my talk and focused on what are Christ's attributes. I didn't include the Garden, Cross, or Ressurection. Also, no restoration scriptures. I am still trying to decide what I think on the above areas (literal, not literal?)

We had many thanks us for our talks (especially DW's). I think what stood out was our Christ centered approach. I felt good overall about it.

I just hope that people don't think I am pulling the wool over their eyes (the BP knows I am not). Could be interesting, as I plan on trying a few other congregations up the road over the next few months. DW said she was willing to try some with me, she is the best.

Hope everyone else's meetings, or lack thereof went well.

Congrats.
Just remember, no matter how well Mrs Raylan does, she's never the clean up hitter like the husband is.

Sounds refreshing to hear something about the good attributes of christianity instead of OBEY!

That sounds like a great talk! It's tough preparing talks for a mormon audience when you aren't comfortable with some of the main tenants of the religion.

Good for you for speaking about what should be second in importance to the atonement. It's shocking how little we know about what the Savior did, taught, etc. when, you know, he bothered to take on a mortal tabernacle and actually walk this earth. One would think that, after having gone to all that trouble, what he bothered to utter and do would be central doctrine to us. Instead of a rotation of the four standard works, it would be a rotation of the four Gospels. That's actually a good idea. I might do that. I love being NOM!
